I've just bought an 09 R1200GS ,I can see already the damage it causes without one. Could someone recommend me a good Fender Extender and is it worth putting on a Crud Catcher aswell .If the answers yes is the one advertised on the site as good as any. Thanks in advance :thumb

Not ridden the bike yet with the Crud Catcher on it but it can only be a bonus ?

I am riding to the Isle of Wight on Tuesday so will give you a better reply later in the week

Hi. It is worth checking whether there is a foam thing under the black plastic cover. This is the cause of many corrosion problems and looks like damage that would be caused by crud being kicked up from the front tyre. That might exacerbate the problem but the foam problem is well discussed in this forum. Worth checking. I managed to take this out and I am to bike mechanics what Jordan is to opera singing.

:thumbIve got a crud catcher on my 1150gs great bit of kit, makes cleaning bike far easier, no more shit and muck across ballancer pipe and bottom of engine, have not seen the need to fit a fender extnda, but i dont know if there is a big difference on the 1200.

Your maybe right having both might be a bit of overkill.

I've ordered one from Nippy Norman's last night and received an email saying it's posted today. I've cleaned and stripped the bike and sprayed it with
ACF-50 so hoping it's ready for the winter ahead :augie

I've got both...the Pyramid Fender Extenda and the Cymarc Crud Catcher. You're right, it is overkill but I like that.

Now the front end's sorted, what's best for the back end? Should I go all out for an Ilmberger hugger in carbon at £200 or for a MudSling from Nippy Norma's, oops Norman's, for less than half of that?

Any views? (Daft question)

I'm awaiting delivery of a Puig hugger - looks OK and is considerably cheaper than a Ilmburger hugger http://www.motorcycle-exhausts.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=9502 (it was £144 last week when I ordered mine)

I bet you met some high quality crud on Island roads. The locals, who can't cope with "Mainland" drivers (or driving for that matter) have a saying "Island Roads Are Different". Should actually read "Island Roads Are Sh1t".

A good test for the crud catcher I'd say. Next time try my road through Merstone - it about as cr*p as you can get with deep standing water, leaves, potholes, twigs, rabbits, squirrels (red of course) to name but a few items of local crud. Give me a shout next time you're over and I'll show you mine, if you now what I mean.

I received the same e-mail after I ordered it, but I received an e-mail yesterday advising that it had been dispatched and it arrived this morning :thumb2 They're probably cheap because they carry no stock and only order from Puig when they receive an order

Haven't opened the box yet though as I'm about to leave home to drive to London for a meeting :(
