Another good alternative, cheap and fast, from Denmark to Norway is
http://www.masterferries.com, only 2 hours sailing from Hanstholm to Kristiansand, prices between 57 and 116 euro's, depending on the date/time you travel.
Arriving in Kristiansand, you can take a quite nice road north through the Setesdalen, and then go west through the mountains towards Lyseboth.
In the Setesdales you'll find plenty of campsites. When arriving late, there's a campsite just outside Kristiansand at the coast called "Rolligheden".
