Hi Paul, thanks for that - some helpful info. We're definitely going to Oradour-s-Glane, I think I've been a bit misunderstood when I said I'd pass, I meant I'd pass on waiting for Wapping to 'cheer up' no matter how 'helpful' he might eventually be. Yes, compromising must be difficult - we're pretty lucky both being as excited about the forthcoming bike trip as each other

Yes they do. I live about 20 mins from O-s-Glane, and it 's somewhere my own visitors like to be taken. The car park is quite small, but the number of overseas number plates is quite staggering, including a fair number of ''D'' German plates. In the summer it's usually quite busy ( esp school coaches), although this year when I took a visitor on 10th June ( the anniversary) it was chucking it down with rain, and we were virtually the only two there. Very spooky, very atmospheric. Weekends are usually the best time to go to get the atmosphere without hoards of school kids. Give me a shout when you are going and I could meet up for a brew or whatever.

Thanks for that JWFr - I think we'll be able to arrange to be there on a Saturday given your good advice. We'd love to meet up as suggested, encountering new people with some interests in common will really make the trip excellent - it's shaping up that way already
