I've just returned from a marathon six-week, 8200-mile trip to Morocco and beyond. In Western Sahara I met up with several British motorhome owners and they told me of a guy known as Carlos who organises cheap ferry tickets across the Straits of Gibraltar.

Apparently he is very well-known in the motorhome community and operates from an office close to Lidl and Carrefour in Algeciras (come off the E15 at junction 112). Motorhome owners sort their tickets with Carlos, then do their shopping and park overnight at Lidl before getting the morning ferry. One couple said their ferry this time from Algeciras to Ceuta was €100 return for motorhome and two passengers.

See http://www.motorhomefacts.com/ftopicp-347369.html where someone was quoted €71 return for a Land Rover.

Could someone please follow this up and find out how much he charges for bikes!

I'm going down in three weeks Tim and I'll see if I can stop off and check.

I wold have a major worry getting my tickets from them though.....there's a place in the parade of shops outside the gaes that I use and on the last two trips I've got the Landy (bearing in mind it's 2.5mtres tall and 5 metres long) and a 6 metre long 3 metre tall trailer over for 129 Euros......the problem is though the guy always has to walk over and get me through with his mate on the booth 'cos he lists me as a smaller size.

Obviously a bike is a bike but I'd still be cautious......buying a cut price ticket is all nice until you're sat in the queue being told something's wrong and they won't accept it :)
