How do I use this? Do I just extract the files to the memory card in my 660?

I downloaded the file to my laptop, then transferred it to my 550 via the data cable.

It looks different from when I installed it, in 2008. It looks like you need to use the Garmin POI Loader (http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-12).

I then have the followingoptions:
Garmin-csv-www.archiescampings.eu........
GPX eXchange-www.archiescampings.eu........
NAVIGON7-www.archiescampings.eu........
NAVMAN_ROUTE66-csv-www.archiescampings.eu........
Can I assume that I only need one of those and can delete the other 3?

I couldn't say, I don't remember it being so complicated. At a guess I'd say you only need the first one, as they are probably replicated files.

IMO that don`t seem right, for the zumo AFAIK all you have to do with the Achies campings is unzip the file on your computer, then ignore 90% of the contents, and look for the "Garmin-csv-www.archiescampings.eu"........ file,
All I do is open that and copy the bitmap image and CSV files into the file you use to assemble all the POI`s(speed cams, BMW dealers, routiers etc) ie: zumo upload folder, then using POIloader select the zumo uploadfolder as the location file and let POIloader do its thing and load the POI`s onto your zumo, then as you state
and you`ll only have the right set of POI loaded
there is another set of file within the archies folder that you may find useful, and they are for google earth

Have you sorted out your boat tickets yet? I'm thinking I just might leave it on the day and buy them at the port. Which way are you heading from Igoumenitsa? We are heading across Greece and into Turkey. Expat if you have any info on that route it would be greatly appreciated.

You get on the Egnatia Odos once you get off the ferry in Igoumenitsa, then just keep going. It'll take you to the Turkish border, and the motorway from there takes you to Istanbul.
It's boring, there were no service stations when I last used it (2008) so you have to leave it for fuel, but it's the quickest and easiest ways across Greece.

Did you have any problems crossing the border? I’m heading south towards Gallipoli, ounce in Turkey. I’m not sure yet if I will be heading into Istanbul, as I will be riding with an inexperienced rider (it might be a bit much for him).

GR/TR border is easy, but often very busy during July/August. Make sure you have a nice crisp ten pound note for the visa though, they don't give change.
Gallipoli is only a couple of hours from the border, are you going anywhere else? In that area, and if you're staying overnight, I'd suggest a visit to Assos...you will not find anywhere nicer to have a meal.
Don't be put off by the stories of riding in Istanbul. Provided to go with the flow of the traffic, rather than trying to cut through it, your mate should be fine. Don't forget, you'll only be riding to get to where you are staying then parking the bikes until you leave, which if you do nice and early in the morning will be easy.

hi guys , i did this route last october, try plan it so you fuel up before getting on the boat, as expat says there are few service stations, i remember only 1 service station as we would recognise it, there are a few fuel stations along the route but blink and you miss them, if you do spot one top up as most of the signs for fuel take you into little villages off route.
they were just opening the toll booths when i was coming back but they were not expensive,
the boat docked before sunrise when i arrived but felt quite warm, when u set off it takes you through a small mountain range, it was freezing at that time of the morning so wrap up.
the border crossing was straight forward be prepared to stop 4 or 5 times, crossing the border bridge seems quite surreal too

If you have more time in Greece, then I recommend heading across the country to the North from Igooumenitsa and dropping down into Thessalonika. Excellent mountains, lakes etc. Not much traffic. Very few options from Thessalonika to the Turkish border though.
When you get to the Turkish Border, don't be a proud Brit who likes to queue. Best bet is to drive right to the front, filtering in just before the border control. Head through, park up somewhere (don't worry, no one will stop you) and walk between the different check points. Remember, you'll need to get your tourist visa/s from the building first, then go through the control points one at a time in the right order (as if you were driving). Last time I did it, I didn't need the bike at each point, just the paperwork. The last control point was complete bedlam last time I was there, so just nudge your way to the front of the queue!
