That's what's taking me so long to reply;
working out what i can do with not a lot.
to get the scenic routes to and from.
The fun in this is the journey / not the destination.
I could be practical, but where's the fun in that?
This may turn into feck-it-we'll-just-have-to-get-a-plane
But not if i can help it! I'm determined to get away on the Bike this year.

Not tried either yet. Being Scottish (and living in Scotland) I've always used the ferry from Newcastle to Ijmuiden, but that was a couple of years ago and I'm now thinking that it would be waaaay cheaper to ride down through engerlund and get the chunnel/ferry.
Just wanted to say a Thank You for the great help in clearing up the choices / options / possibilities that meself and Mrs Og have been considering for us to get to the FEMA meeting in Paris this june.
This place really is marvelous - or should i say; the Contributors are marvelous.

ANYhow....
after all that - we're taking the Celticlink ferry from Rosslare to Cherbourg.
they had a sale. it was an offer i couldn't refuse. it was cheap. €260 rtn
- with nice big cabin, each way.
all the modest 2 berths were taken already
Going through the U.K simply wasn't an option at that price.
Shame, as there's some Tossers i'd love to invade for a cuppa at least.
So, next - we'll be sussing out wots to do and see, after the business part is over and we meander between Paris and the return boat from Cherbourg.
All tips, hotel suggestions (cheap ones!
we're mad to be doing this at all - so, gotta be cheap ), restaurants etc. would be good to know. 
... i'm just chuffed to be getting back to France - i feel like Peter Sellers in that movie; Being There
