I booked my Ferry today for my trip down to Frejus in the 1st week of October. I was looking at either something from Portsmouth to Caen/St Malo/Le Havre, or Dover to Calais. This time i am in the Car with the Bike on a Trailer. So the crossing is more than just the Bike, of course.

The best priced crossing I found was for Portsmouth > Caen. £333 return with a Cabin each way (1 overnight, and one late afternoon crossing). All Dover/Calais options were circa £300 return for the Ferries, and £600 for the Tunnel! I'm not sure if there's an event on, or perhaps School Holidays inflating the costs. But that seemed high money for such a short crossing.

At least it means i get to start in France with a full day ahead of Driving, and can cover some good ground.

It's certainly going to be a route i use more, if heading to France. It's half the distance/time for me than Folkestone - plus with better prices!

Ime over in France at moment, travelled with Irish Ferries, booked via Direct Ferries£336 return for motorhome and trailer carrying bike, P and O and brittany wanted £500 and tunnel nearly £700.

I guess it's so much as essentially i'm taking up 2 Car spots!

Guess so, just sounds a lot considering it was £79 each way just for a bike!
If I double that it’s £316 return, so it’s double that again!
