Hi folks, we are planning our first trip to Morocco in early October and i was hoping for some advice on whether
we need to book the ferry from Algeciras in advance. There will be 4 of us on 2 bikes. Thanks in advance for any help.

One word.... Carlos.... just turn up and get your tickets from there. Open from 09:00 to 21:00.

If you decide too go straight too the port you will be fine, plenty of shipping companies.... INSIDE....THE Ferry terminal building...DO NOT BUY OUTSIDE IT.....
On the return in to Tangier, stop in the last Shell station on the N1 on the way in...
Ticket Booth huts as you exit the station..

Watch how they tie your bikes down on the ferry. They wanted mine on the centre stand and after I argued they agreed to side stand then ratcheted down to completely compress the suspension. I had to insist they backed it off a bit. That's when they pretend not to speak English. They gave in when all 6 of us argued and showed him how we wanted it.

Good dolphin spotting on the crossing.

If you haven't been before, get your passport sorted on the ferry. They give you a one-off Morocco entry number. There will be an office on the ferry dealing with this.

This is only an option if crossing to Tangier. If crossing to Ceuta you are still arriving in Spain.

Avoid the lookalike official hi viz jacket wearing blokes outside of the terminal. Scammers. I rode past them all looking like I knew what I was doing, when in reality not a clue. :D

Also decide where you want to go, Tangier Port also called Tangier Ville (near Tangier town) or Tangier Med, 50km away but most think it easier to deal with.

If you want to go to Tangier Ville, you can also go from Tarifa, only a 1 hour crossing and a very neat pull down bar system for strapping your bike in

I’ve used the Almeria to Nador crossing many times. It’s a longer crossing but feels like you arrive in Morocco proper if that makes sense.

I’ve never been on that crossing with a bike though, only trucks and vans.

Just turn up - buy the ticket in the terminal - it was about £50. Coming back was simple too.

Hi folks, thanks for all your help, got the ferry today and as you all replied go straight to the booking office simples.
Things were not so good in Tanger Med, ferry docked at 2 but we didn't get through the port till 5, they were xraying all the vehicles!!
In Tetouan now in a lovely Riad with very helpful staff who took us through busy market streets to our garage.
