Like lots of other,s I have my Standard Seat set "High" at the front and "Low" at the back. Although this seems to be best for comfort it does leave an unsightly Gap between the Tank and Seat. Also this gap is directly above the Battery Terminals so any Rain, especially when Parked will run down the Tank and onto the Battery. Anyone got any suggestions as how to "Fill the Gap".
Thanks, Mike Tee.

if you did a search you'd see others have asked the same (like for example, me)...

what I got was to... ignore it, doesn't heart anything

one good aesthetic solution I found recently is the attachment point of the BMW tankbag (the part that has the zip and stays on the bike at all times)... seems to fill part of the gap

Slight hijack but.....
Have thought of doing this myself but know that it is not recommended by manufacturer.
Any long term problems with regard to damaging the seat or brackets?

Another solution is to leave the seat where it is and only ride up hill!

I thought it was just me.............I too feel as though the seat leans too far forward but had not thought to set the seat as you folks have - might try it.

Every Demo/loan R1200GS I have ridden has the seat set high at th fornt/low at athe back by the dealers. 3 differen dealerships, same settings so I followed their example and it made it much better..... Had the gaping gap for over year and not had a problem that could in any way be attributed to it, yet.

no trouble Mike

Peter I know it is not recommended but I have it like that for the last 3500Km and everything is still ok

once heard that like that, it will more easily unlock (without the key obviously), but if you see how it is constructed and how it works, in fact doesn't matter at all how is the saddle positioned OVER the bars since the bars themselves are exactly where they where supposed to be (again: independently of how the saddle is OVER them - I keep saying "over" to show you what I mean)

talking about unlocking without the key, it has been mentioned that it is easy enough on these bikes anyway (thus a few stolen tool kits!)

I've been using the seat with the front raised and the gap has been annoying me since I made the adjustment.
I used a piece of rubber mat about 4mm thick, doubled it over and stuck the two edges together with double sided tape and duct tape. Cut it to length so it stops just short of the 2 locating lugs at the front of the seat and stuck it near the top edge of the seat using more double sided tape.
The tape would be unlikely to hold the rubber in place on it's own but it's squeezed between the seat and tank at the sides which seems to be enough to prevent it from coming adrift.
It does leave a tiny gap at the top but looks much better than it did.

I had the rubber and tape sitting around anyway so all it cost was a bit of time.
The rubber needs a bit of cleaner on it as the grey edges in the photo show.
