I currently carry a crappy old petrol siphoner to get petrol out of my tank for my MSR bottle. I have heard tell of a way in which you can fit a small pipe/tap to your petrol tank which can be left in place such that you don't need another siphoner and it easier to get petrol out.

Touratech do an accessory but it appears to have to be a bit of a fiddle to use (http://www.touratech.com/shops/008/product_info.php?products_id=4868)

Can anybody shed any light on this mod/accessory?

thanks in advance for your help

Why not top it up when you stop for fuel, saves messing with your fuel line

Ye gods man,If only I thought of that.Oh,hang on,I did:bounce1That's me £17.79 better off,that's almost half a tank of petrol.Result all round:clap

Assuming 1200s have QD's like 1150's, just get a qd and fit a bit of pipe to it .....then unplug one of the fuel lines (you'll have to work out which one) and prime the fuel pump.....to fill a litre bottle you'll have to do it three or four times but it'll work fine.
Carry a spare 'o' ring for the QD though- they can get pinched if you're not careful and you don't want to be peeing petrol all over the place without having a way of sorting it:)

On a similar line to Fanums, if you make a fuel line with QD to connect to the return feed fuel line, you can fill spare containers while the engine is running.

That sounds like a really neat idea... can we have a quick poll here and see who's adopted this - simply put your reg number up, that'd give a fair approximation of the take up...

I knew there was a way around the current high petrol prices

But why, not somthing I would ever use.

You will...when you get fed up with paying some 15 year old 'technician' £70 an hour to lift your tank while his dealer boss dealer drops your trousers to present you with the bill for a new battery every 12 months.....

Do you pump up your own tyres or do you pay someone to do that?

surely you must be interested in knowing just a little about your own bike?

Well, he'll have been well and truly rogered if he's charged to lift the tank to fit a new battery on a 1200 :)

I just carry a length of small bore clear plastic pipe, because its clear I can see the fuel coming through thus avoiding even a tiny sip, once my fuel bottle is full a quick whirl about and theres barely even a whiff of petrol, why make life complicated ?

I do the same. It can also be used for inflight refueling of your mates GSXR when he's run out of fuel.:toungincheek

I do the same but use silicone tube, insert a couple of foot in the tank, cover the open end and lift. That way you don't have to suck so risk of a gob full of petrol :thumb
