Filtering en France

A game of chance then.

Probably more down to "how you filter" than "if you filter".

Never had a problem, but I do not go splitting lanes at 60mph above the flow of traffic scattering wing mirrors in my wake.

If your worried about a cop having a bad day, well IMO they have an endless list of trivial offences to choose from if they want to bust your balls.

I have always filtered sensibly in France as I do here and have never been stopped.
Had to filter about 20 miles on the motorway due to a car crash in France. The road had been closed...Amongst the traffic in the queue was a police car who moved to the side to give me room to pass by..
I think only you can decide at the time and circumstances in front of you to either do it or not.

+1. Never had a problem filtering in France.

IMO it's just a case of being sensible, polite & showing good manners.

I've always found French drivers to be very considerate to us 2 wheeled types & as mentioned above have also had Msr. Plod move aside to let me filter past.

I have always filtered in france with no problems.

Mind you, have you seen the way the bikers filter round the peripherique? 'kin' mental!!

I filtered in France, the French seem much more considerate. When I filtered, I was very sensible and very polite. Pretty much like I do here.

Think filtering is tolerated providing you are sensible BUT on the Perifique the filtering of scooters and bikers is just down right scary and suicidal at times. I hit Paris at approx 5.45pm a few years ago and it was an "experience" to say the least.

I have never seen so many people heading for a single gap and if the motorists block or get a bit ratty the scooter riders just kick the cars or boot off wing mirrors etc - I can see why they are clamping down on the Paris ring road....

The Périphérique is brilliant, three of us did it last year, friday evening rush hour around 5.30pm lad at the back didn't have a sat nav so it was either keep up or get lost he was hyper ventilating by the time we hit the Charles de Gaulle airport tunnel :D Must admit never thought the day would come when I couldn't keep up with a wee lass on a scooter :moped::eek:

Never had a problem filtering in France, but it is best done after a few drinks:beerjug:
Although I have heard that they have clamped down on that now:rolleyes:
I remember getting pissed with Gendarmes and Pompiers and we all drove off to our respective abodes for the night:cool

I worked near CDG airport for 4 years 04-08 and never had a problem but that doesn't mean it's OK now from what others have said. I never had the balls to keep up with the locals, though when I tried it was certainly an eye opener.
That said, french car drivers are far more biker aware than they are here and readily move out of the way. Just watch out for dosy brits with caravans and cycle racks.
