Hi all, returning from work i coasted up to my house in gear clutch in. i felt and heard a knocking from the rear,, clunk, clunk, clunk in proportion to wheel speed it would appear, i rode off and selected neutral and coasted to a halt and i got the same clunking. i then popped the bike on the main stand and,, rear wheel of the ground selected first and gave some throttle got the wheel spinning and pulled in the clutch,,,,,, no clunking,,, however back wheel of the ground bike in gear and plenty of throttle open n closing creates the same clunking sound if i hold the swingarm at the point where the bevelbox fastens on i can feel the shaft banging on the housing,,, the bevel box has no movement when i try and rock from side-side or up-down. can anyone help tell me what may be wrong?? many thanks :)

Its not usually wise to run the motor,in gear with the bike on centre stand.
They do make strange noises;however,if the drive is knocking in normal use there could be a problem with the shaft or bevel box.
Maybe one of the U/Js is on its way out.Sounds like a back end strip is on the cards.

Noise

All the symtoms of a u/j going pop, have alook without delay as if it lests go sometime could be a pain.
