Hi, just wondering if anyone of you have done some mod to the final drive of the GS?

I was thinking about swopping the rt with my gs.
i think with the lower gear, it would run smoother on the highway.

what do you guys think?

I looked into all this a few years ago, after getting frustrated with the 5th/6th gears at the TT. My 1150 will hit the rev limiter in 5th but 6th is too tall for the engine to pull hard. Great for cruising, but... I don't do cruising all that much in IOM :green gri

Here's a really useful site for all things BMW & gear-related.

I ended up going for an R1100S FD & geared the bike up a bit. Acceleration is unaffected because each gear runs marginally longer, so less gear changing needed. The Powercommander, K&N, alloy wheels & race exhaust may also help... however, the great thing for me is that it no longer hits the rev limiter in 5th, so now I only need to run 5 gears when visiting the TT. As a plus, it also drops the revs in 6th by about 500rpm, so it's nice & relaxed on the motorway.

I find the GSA gearing much better

I've got a bevel box off an RS on my 1100,it makes a difference, but not that much.

If you can do it cheap enough, go for it, but I wouldn't spend a fortune on it.
