Probably a stupid question, but does the final drive oil have any way of making it into the gearbox/engine?
I ask because when I last had my service I requested the BMW garage to look at the play in the final drive. It was within tolerance but the tech did say that about 50% of the oil was missing????? (I did ask where it went and he didn't know).
Now I had a service in July last year at the same place and notice that since then the oil filler window is completely full of oil, i.e. there is no top level of oil to be seen. (Over filled??)
Has this been over filled or has, (back to stupid question), oil from the final drive been somehow pressurised up into the engine/gearbox?
Should I get my coat?
