I've just changed my final drive oil at 11,000 miles and it was very black, quite smelly and there was a lot of very fine metal particles stuck to the magnetic drain plug.
Has anyone else seen oil of this colour from their final drive at such a low mileage?
When I changed it on my K1300s after 8,000 miles it was as if it was new.
I think I'll change it at the same time as the engine oil in future.
Is there anything else I can do to prolong the life of the final drive ie grease any bearings?
