It's been a while, but I finally managed to get out for a decent spin there the weekend before last. Had a two day stag to go to in Kilarney and thought to myself it would be a great excuse to clock up some miles, get in some photo points and have some fun on the bike.
Hit the road Friday afternoon, set the sat nav to backroads and took in the Wicklow, Carlow/kk , Wexford, where the skies opened just as I rolled up to the forge.. lucky there was a nice bench inside to sit and eat my sandwich while I waited for it to clear, and then to the Waterford point. Was getting late by this stage and I knew I'd have a lot of catching up to do so made a b line for Killarney.
Plenty of boozing and partying ensued... photos are not available for this part of the trip!
Got up on Saturday morning, waited to sober up and then as the rest of the boys hit the pub (11.am) I hit the road. Got the Kerry point done and did the ring (or most of it). Stunning scenery and amazing roads. Surprisingly few bikes on the roads, which were fairly quiet. Had lunch in Avoca before heading back to find the stag dressed in pink hotpants and a tanktop! Should of stayed out on the bike!
Next morning, got up went back and got the Cork point, then up to Limerick and Tipp. (Watch out for dangerous cows... I'm a city boy and don't know the etiquette when it comes to cows At this point needed to head home and after the trauma of my bike being knocked over by cows, I skipped the laois and Kildare points.
Great weekend and managed to stay dry for the most part.
