After what seemed like an eternity of 8 weeks I finally picked up my 1290 SA today leaving the GSA behind. No longer am I a gser, in fact not a tosser anymore either. 200 mile long way home completed. Oh wait bmw probably has that copyrighted!

So is it good? Sat on one recently and though nice didn't fit like my 2014 GSA .was on a trip to Bolivia recently and one of the guys had just done like you , loved it , It seems the bike to compete with the current GSA but a bit quicker .Interested to see how you get on.Had KTM sm 950's and 990's .great bikes , the 950 especially .Enjoy yer new bike

It feels very similar to the GSA yet very different as well. The ergonomics are very similar although the bars are narrower. It's a little bit lower but marginal. It can still do the easy role through the corners on a lazy cruise but damn it's sharp handling when, err you want to make progress. My GSA had standard suspension and I always thought it was pretty good. This semi active stuff though is freaky. It feels firm even in comfort mode, then you hit bumps and it just glides over them. It's still early days and have a few hundred miles to run it in. That said even just now the power is addictive. Even in 6th which is a tall cruiser gear it leaps off the mark.

The list goes on but remembering mine was an 09 so some but not all are better anyway on the toilets.

So far I have to say I am very impressed and really happy I made the move. I would say that though considering the amount of money I handed over this morning lol.

By the way while I am at it, for anyone in the north-east or even Scotland since the dealer in Perth is a waste of space. M+S in Newcastle have done a great job so far. The spanner man who put my bike together did a cracking job. No idea how much assembly they need to do but loads of parts like stands, mirrors, pegs, chain adjuster all have a nice coating of either grease or copper ease.

I seem to have become addicted to the "snarl"....even with the standard pipe, be interesting to see how long I retain my current clean licence status:D

after 1300 miles I think the seat is starting to bed in, either that or my backside is becoming "ktm shaped"..........

What a fantastic bit of kit!!!
