Finding the right plug

My gear indicator has started to go mad after some proper soakings of late, I have searched on here and found a couple of things to look for. As pointed out by Steptoe, "before you spend any money check the plug near the subframe" sound advice that, not spending money can anyone be a little more specific as the the exact location and the colour of the wires to the plug please.

In behind the rear of the gearbox just in front of the swingarm where it's hard to see it, there is a round black doofer about an inch and a half in diameter wiv a cable comin out

Not the silver Doofer if you have an 1150 cos thats the clutch slave cylinder

Anyway I fink the leads go ut the left side of the frame just above the footpeg

both 1100 plugs are located on the lefthand side above the footrest hanger attached to the subframe.

1150 plug is lefthand side of bike, attached to the front frame tube at the side of the alternator.
