Finish Issues on 2016 GS Triple Black

Funny how people's experiences vary. I've used it on all my bikes and never an issue.

However, I've never left it to 'soak in' etc., always washed straight off.

One cleaner I do think is fantastic and well worth the money is the Bilt Hamber - requires hardly any agitating and cleans the wheels and calipers brilliantly.

Don’t know what they doing but ive seen enough “white” calipers and engine casings to know i wont use it. Indeed i have 5ltrs in shed someone gave me years ago, never used it. And wont. Bike sprayed with ACF50 and it wont ever get a wash just a top up of ACF now and again. My last GSA went away as good as the day it was new. Indeed got a letter from next owner congratulating me on the condition it was in.

Every single 'cleaner' that I have ever tried has damaged the finish on the bike I've used it on, the latest being Autoglym Magma, it stripped the silver finish from the brake banjos and discoloured the braided brake lines despite only being on them for a maximum of a minute before being agitated and rinsed off, over a couple of washes.

Only car shampoo and elbow grease then ACF 50 and wax of some kind for me these days, I suspect I was looking for a solution to a problem I didn't have by using these products.

The only cleaner you’ll ever need is SDOC100 power gel. And some decent car shampoo.

I’m guessing the OP used MucOff, as he’s gone very quiet. :blast

Muc off is the work of the devil. I wouldn’t use that on my bike no matter how diluted it was. Seen plenty bikes ruined using that shite

And I would wager that the bike owners, who had suffered an issue, were a wee bit thick

It's no good spraying it on a hot bike or spraying it on a dry bike or spraying it on a wet bike then popping off for a cheeky wank/fag/tea* or it will, to quote Tommy from Snatch, be proper fucked :blast

I use Halfords silicone lube on the black spoked wheels, it brings them up a treat & water just beads and rolls of them.

Another bike eating itself. :D

Funny.

But I`ve also seen this when `the wrong cleaning stuff` is used `Sir`.

For some reason some traffic film remover does seem to `bleach` the paint - I`ve got it on my 2014 GSA frame, partly (I think) to the bloody tree hugging save the planet lead (and paint) free paints they are now using.

A chum's brother had the black finish taken off the forks of his Triple Black GS by one of the bike cleaning fluids. I can't remember which one it was. :blast

Which reminds me I need to order more Fuchs Wash-Off for my bike. :thumby:

Used that Mucoff twice now on the bike over 2 years, always wash it off quickly, bike is still in one piece. :D

I am with Nutty or Castrol Greentech (removed that god awful ACF50 shite from a bike I bought)

Muc Off - why would you ?

Yep, crack on and plaster your new bike in that stuff

Yup, and when it comes time to sell it on it will be in hugely better condition than a bike that never had the treatment. I know because ive done it before. Quite frankly i dont give a flying fuck what anyone else thinks about MY bike, and it will continue to get the treatment for as long as i own it. Jog on yersel. :green gri:D

Sdoc100. But I do water it down slightly as I am tight lol.

My 2016.5 wheels are paint free just natural alloy colour

Sorry for the delay in replying to your comments, been busy running my Blood Bike Group ;)

I use Valet Pro Dragons Breath which is pH 7-8 so as near as damn it neutral, the bike has been ACF 50’d from new and it shows :D

Some interesting comments and I will try some of them to see how the wheels come up, someone mention spraying or powder coating the wheels, is that possible with a spoked wheel?
