Finished GSA TB, the bike Nutty really wants

Mine was smashed by an errant Pheasant. Got the photos somewhere to prove it- got a second hand Headlight for £450, a real pig to fit too.

A headlight protector wouldn't have done a thing in that scenario. Look how far back it bent the headlight!

I would agree actually. The plastic lens seems really strong up close. Not invincible though.

Utter Bollocks , I know of one dealer who has replaced 2 LED light assemblies due to stone damage , I fitted one to mine after the unit was chipped by a stone, would rather pay £60 for a protector than £1000 for a headlight

Bin the headlight protector, as it's not needed. Nearly 4 years since the LC came out, and not one report of a broken LED headlight, anywhere.

Did he sell you the headlight protector?

When you say stone damage, had the stone gone through the lexan, or just chipped it?

My personal thought on headligh protection is for the cost of a night out I would rather have some protection than none and suffer a large bill

On mine the lens was chipped, on the two broken units at the dealers a stone had smashed the lens and also damaged the led unit.
No I did't buy a headlight protector from the dealer.
At work our vehicles had protected screens and yet I have over the years had two of those cracked by thrown up stones and also had a couple of plastic lensed headlights broken by stones plus a glass one on my r1150gs.
So in response to the posting that none have ever been broken I stick to my initial reply ......................
Lexan, Makralon etc are not bullet proof they can break and shatter especially by sharp pieces of aggregate shot at speed from the wheels of a other vehicle, I would rather not take the risk

The cheap and nasty looking deflector doesn't fit with my gorgeous mesh headlight protector, which of course drops down on hinges to clean the headlight

The bike looks stunning :thumb2

I've just purchased a Triple Black myself, but I went back to the GS after having the GSA in 2015. it will suit my needs better.

What make is the headlight protector?

^^^ That is pretty awesome.

Is the black Akra a obtained through BMW or another gear pimp?

My dealer ordered it through the U.K. distributor for Akrapovic.:thumb

Rich, did you have any fuelling issues fitting the full Akra system?

I have the black slip on ready to fit, but as yet haven't ordered the headers.

Not that I noticed, but I then took it to Hilltop. If you get the headers, let me know, and I could introduce you to the Wizard of Earl Shelton.:green gri
