I bought the Baglux tank cover and tank bag a couple of months ago but have never had reaosn to use the bag until today.

I dunno if they are supposed to fit like mine does but it is just so far back it touches my jacket.

I have had a look at piccies of Touratech and other bags and they seem to sit much further forward.

Can anyone confirm if they are meant to fit like mine does please.

Tanks :D.

Thanks Decster. I am happy with the cover (they always look nice I reckon) and it fits OK, it is just the slung back position of the bag I don't like.

I am hankering after one of those SW-Motech electric jobbies now.

It looks to me as though you need a different baglux tank bag. They do versions which are more suitable for a trail style bike.

I ordered a Baglux Dzeta a few weeks ago. It arrived at my supplier yesterday and I'll collect it at the weekend. I'm hoping that it's going be the answer to exactly this problem. I'll report back when I've had a chance to try it on the bike.

Baglux city bag for me - gives you loads of room on the bike, perfect for the GS.

I had exactly the same issue with mine on my 1200GS.
I saw a 2008 GSA recently with a Baglux "Minisign" bag on it which looked like it was mounted further forward - but I didn;t get too good a look at it so I may be mistaken.

Baglux options

The tank cover fits beautifully if you follow the instructions and it looks very neat with ther edges tucked under the panels; The bag, which can become a rucksack, is the 'Medea'. It looks good, is recommended by Bagster for the 1200GS 2008 - and is as large as possible; It will switch on the heated grips on full lock -that is the only slight defect; I have had it on the bike for some months now and it has not felt at all inconvenient. same problem - I fitted an extension to my bag fitment which moves it all forward about two inches - much better:D

Well at least its not jst me....phew..

I have had 3 baglux bags and the first one I had was the best so far. This was the Alpha bag. The 2nd was a Minea which looked excellent and had a really handy pocket for your phone, shades etc but the angle it sat on the tank caused everything to fall out when you opened it up. I have just bought another of the site and it seems to be very similar in so far as the distance between the base and the sip is small and everything will fall out when you open it.

The ones posted for Trail bikes seem too small to be of any use with one at 8 litres and the other at 20 litres. I keep meaning to phone Baglux about this as they are great apart from that. I don't have a problem of it being to far back just evrything spills out:(

By the way for a R1200GS the BMW tank bag is unbeatable, stylish, waterproof and good capacity with nothing falling out!!

A pity nobody has made a vinyl Baglux adapter 'plate' or similar to allow fitment of the BMW tankbag to a bike with the Baglux tank cover. If I knew a local leather repair shop that could sew heavy vinyl and could get the clips/fittings I'd be tempted to make a prototype.

If only Baglux made a bag thats perfect for the GS/GSA, it's not like there's a small market out there for them.:nenau

Following my earlier post:
Baglux make fabulous harnesses but (IMO) all their bags sit too far to the rear for me. The Shibuya I have on my GS is the same with the added annoyance that it is actaually quite difficult to fit the back clips when reattaching. When I first used the cag I noticed that I had to use about an inch of slack on the front starps to make it fit and this gave me the idea that ideally I'd move it forward. I bought a set of replacement clips from Baglux and attached them to some webbing strap as extension pieces. After experimentation I ended up with this

baglux fit

i had one of these for my honda st 1300 .The bag sat so far forward that you could not get lock on the bars without hitting the horn switch one one side and the starter switch on the other :( i solved it by un picking the stitching from the base plate and moving it back to a suitable position and restitching it back on:).I discovered when i met other owners they had found the same thing. crap imho at this kind of money. I complained to the rep at an event and just got the deaf ear!!!!!! . My gsa has a tank bag from an outfit called winding roads:):) good bag, good price and good service:thumb2

Well it seems that popular opinion is that the tank covers are great but the bags are maybe not so great.

I am wondering if the SW Motech quick-lock bags would still attach to the petrol cap adaptor even with the baglux tank cover still fitted. I will investigate and report back if I can.

By the way, spoke to Motohaus today and they told me that the new model GS does not have bolts around the petrol filler and so the quick-lock range won't work:comfort. Not that I have a 2009 model, just for info.

Will visit my local BMW dealer and check out the OEM bag.

Baglux ... :barf
