I picked my "new" 1100GS up today and rode her back 165 miles. I am very impressed. The roads were dry, but I had a lot more confidence in the handling and braking than on my Triumphs (OK the GS is not as fast, but shes got a fair turn of speed and sounds really good when opened up). Thoroughly enjoyed the ride and I could still walk and feel my fingers after 3 hours (which I can't on the triumphs) So a big thumbs up for the GS. I feel a long term relationship building here.
Anyway, the previous owner has had a Pirelli Diablo Strada fitted on the back (its now done about 200 miles) It performed really well in the dry, and I have Diablos on my Daytona and they work well in both dry and wet on that. The problem I have on the GS is that the front tyre is a Conti road attack which is on its way out. Does anyone know of a Pirelli fitment for the fron which could be matched with the Diablo rear, or should I bite the bullet and get a pair of Conti trails and sell the nearly new Pirelli rear.....which seems a shame but hey ho.

I often ride with different branded tyres and never have an issue.. its a rarity for me to even contemplate buying new tyres... but the trail attacks are damn good, scaryily far lean angle and very stable at high speed *stopped the wobbles on my klv*

Tyres

I've done many miles with a tourance on the back and a knobbly on the front no probs even in the wet so don't worry.

Thanks for your support,

I'm not a tart, so i'll probably replace the front with a Trail Attack in the next few weeks, and do the same with the back when the Diablo wears out. I started riding when all tyres were S**t, rock hard loops of black who-knows-what, but over the past few years (probably because they have become so good) i have started to get a bit (probably unnecessarily) paranoid.....you know the type of thing...."no, you can't possibly use 2 tyres from a different manufacturing batch.....everyone knows that they will spontaneously combust and you will be damned to the eternal pit".....etc..

I am sure that the bike will be even better with 2 matching Contis.....if I try hard I might be able to wear the back out a bit quicker to test this theory.

Many thanks

Go and have a chat with Tim at MTS - Little Tennis Street, Nottingham. He will sort you a tyre that will work well with the Pirelli.

btw - welcome!! great to see another 1100 owner from Nottm on here. :thumb2

Thanks chaps/ esses,
I like the "expensive".....already got some new luggage lined up, been looking at crash bars too......reminds me a bit of when I had a Land Rover 90.....so much after-market stuff!!! I wish Christmas wasn't approaching......
