Having removed my panniers to wash the bike after an extremely wet and mucky ride out today i dropped the off side pannier as i went to pick it up, not from much of a height but onto rough concrete scratching the paint work.
after i had stopped crying (first scratch is the deepest) i tried polishing them out without success.
whilst i believe my options are as follows can anyone advice me of costs or an alternative to them?

Forget about it as this could be the first of many and maybe much worse?

Get someone to spray it but i would worry if match would stand out more than scratches

Get new half of pannier again how would it match? where from? Cost?

Its only 5 Months old Black 90th Anniversary addition.

Look forward to your replies
Steve
:blast  :(

Luckily for me I could never afford to own a bike like this...

I just couldn't take the anxiety of the ownership experience!

Yep, if he's looking for sympathy, he'll find it in the dictionary .....somewhere between shit and syphilis :D

Vinyl wrap both lids in matte black ....... about £10

Respraying a case lid about £70

Get some of that polish that comes in various colours from Halfords etc - It's supposed to hide scratches or make them less obvious?

:nenau

I took it as a GSA, doesn't say RT in the OP.:nenau Suppose i will now have to go stand in the naughty corner :augie

The clue is which section it's in ..... and it's the naughty step btw:whip

From your local BMW Dealer, it will be colour matched, bolt on cure, about £170 last time I brought one in 2008? sell the old one on ebay and recoup some of your costs :thumb

Just live with it,chances are it will happen again.

I am sure it will happen again the first are always the hardest

Spray it and then have someone apply Ventureshield paint protection film. The film will hide any slight mismatches and imperfections in the paint finish.

I did not use the panniers until the film was on - and so far it has saved 2 resprays.

Hope this helps,

John

I had a guy in Cranleigh, Surrey respray my pannier after gently dropping the bike on the slippery wet floor of a ferry whilst trying to turn round over those steel ropes. He matched the paint code perfectly; it wasn't cheap. I think it was just over £100.
PM me if you would like further details.
