Just wondered what the consenses was on the mileage importance of the first service.

Reason I ask is that I'm picking up my new GSA this Friday (whoooo, whooooo!!) but they can't get it in for the first service until 13 June. Before then I'm going to the TT and a few other trips and I expect to have done 800 - 900 miles (maybe more) by 13/06.

Does anybody see this as an issue? Any recommendations for riding before the first service? Does BMW give any warnings or strong reccomendations on the subject?

I did check with the dealer (Vines) and they seemed pretty relaxed.

Ta,

Mike

Don`t worry about it. It`s only a ditch pump engine when all said and done:augie

As long as Vines are happy then no problem. You may want to change the oil at around 400 to be on the safe side and get rid of any crap that has come out of a nice new motor.

I regularly take mine way past service intervals and have had no engine issues or oil usage in 32,000 miles. i.e can`t get my 30,000 miles service until 9th June when the bike will have done around 33,000. My dealer, Clarkes, don`t have any problems with this.

Enjoy......

Check with your dealer, I did as I was heading for 1000 miles which is what they said not to go beyond.

I got my GSA serviced today and it was on 920 by the time I got it in the workshop :D

You're bringing the bike from Chipenham to Guildford to get it serviced???

No wonder you're doing loads of miles..... ;)

I got my first one at just under 1000 miles and have had warranty work done since without a blink of the eye, so don't worry, just ride......

Either Guildford or Oxford. No major BMW dealers in the South West. Besides not too far from Bracknell where I work often.
