Hi everyone,

My 3 week old GSA had its first service today at Vines in Guildford and the bill came to £176, this seemed a bit high to me. The mileage was about 840 miles.

£25 is for their delivery/collection service so the actual service was £151. Does that seem reasonable?

Unfortunately I'm stuck with the nearest dealer being 13 miles away so getting there and back for a service was always going to be an issue which is why the collection service appealed.

I paid it anyway as I want my beast back :-)

If you think that is bad wait till your 6000 miles service + annual service :mad::mad: the joy of BMW ownership.

cost of service

I had my 600 miles service done about 3 weeks ago, i got a loan bike as im 55 miles away and the service alone cost me £172. They have you by the short and curlies as the first service has to be done where yu brought the bike or you pay the full price somewhere else.

Nothing to stop you going elsewhere after that tho.

Tally Ho

thanks for that, I don't feel so bad now :-) Bike is a LOT of fun though. :)

I guess I was spoilt as I used to work right next to the Suzuki dealership and their servicing was very cheap, but thinking about it they did use monkeys in their service dept. :blast

service

My 1st service at rainbow cost 118 gbp for my 08 gsa and i got a loner bike for the day :bounce1garbo:bounce1

ha thats cheap my last service at bmw dealer was a 12000 mile supposed major service he said .
only £377. and they didnt even change the plugs , they put new rear pads in ,,what a rip off dont think i will get another one there.

very unhappy :(:(:(

So if they'd charged £387 and changed all four plugs you'd have been happier?

Could always get the bike serviced by an independant garage.

BTW assuming you've paid £600 for the first, 6k and 12k services that's only 5p per mile on servicing.

First service on my 1200GSA cost me just under £50.
From Williams in Manchester, where i bought it from three weeks ago...
Not bad in my book !

My 08 GSA was serviced at Bahnstormer last week and it cost £86 IIRC.
That was including 2x GPS plugs and 1x £10 Touratat part to, so the actual service was £51 I believe.
The coffee was nice too. :)

My dealer SSB is 40 miles away,I usually arrange for a Saturday appointment if I have to go.I like to go to SSB its a fun day out!(I take Donuts :nenau...:topic)Maybe thats why they won RIDE dealer of the year.

IIRC the first 600 service is s'possed to be £99.00

Mine was about £85 from Cooper Tunbridge Wells last year and that included a loan bike and a spare litre of oil:thumb

Bahnstormer all the way ....

Steve

Bahnstormer gave me a free first serviced ( Negotiated at purchase ) on my '08 GSA,

6k Mile service was £120,
12K Mile service Was £180 - Which in my book is a fantastic price, they apologised for the increase in labour rates too :nenau .....:rob

Great coffee, you have viewing seats where you can see them work on your bike and conversation is friendly and informed. ....:thumb2

Well as they're only 3 miles further away I may just give them a try next time.

thanks

I can't recall the exact amount but I paid approx £100 for my 600 service recently.
