First Shock of owning a GS

Booked my 1200 TB in for its first 600 mile service-------- £180

Find out what oil they plan to put in. The fully synthetic stuff is £65. If they propose using that tell them to put in cheaper mineral oil to aid the bedding-in process (my dealer did that in any case). Alternatively take your own - Motul 5100 10W-50 costs about £35.

Sorry not trying to turn this into an oil thread :augie :hide

i think bmw make some sort of contribution. mine cost me £50.

Just re-read this and seen you said 600 mile service, not 6000 mile :blast I haven't checked my invoice but I paid nothing like this for the running in service, hence why I thought it said 6000 mile service as this does cost in the region of £180, unless you combine it with the annual as I said before. Think you've been well and truly bent over

I stated on the phone that i thought this was expensive for a first run in service, he stated that this would be the maximum they charge and it Might be a little bit cheaper, still i wonderted what other people have paid on here.

Mmmmm

Mmmm, I don`t want to muddy the waters here but I bought mine from BMW Park Lane London and had it serviced in Lincolnshire at BMW Laceby and they charged me about the same saying that I might have got it free if I had returned the bike to BMW Park Lane.

I am of the opinion that mostly the original dealer should do it free???????

BMW do contribute (so I was told). I paid £100 exactly for a RT in November.

You get an Oil + Filter change, Final Drive oil change and check over.

Hi Mark,

I think my 600 service was free at Lind....all I had to pay for was the consumables.....oil, plugs, filter etc. I couldn't swear on it but I think it came to about £70??

:thumb2

When I took my 2010 GS in for it's 600ml service and was asked for £180 , I said all other bikes I've had, the 600 svs was free. She said "welcome to the world of BMW".......:comfort

That was the starter.

Practice bending over 180 and grab your ankles. Helps if you can read upside down when the bill is passed through your legs. Oh and don't forget the £13 for the website. :D

piss take

Well what ever way you slice it,that price is a piss take if it was my bike id be asking for a breakdown (sorry shouldnt use that word in a 1200 thread) of whats been done......

I'm just about to sign the dotted line but I won't unless they throw in the first service and there's two of us buying brand new.
