First Shock of owning a GS

I booked mine into Wollastons this week, they have a contribution system for the first service, so its £100 on the nose. Which is fair enough, and offered at the point of booking.

Interestingly, they can't be too busy, when can you fit it in? - tomorrow sir!

Its going in on Tuesday, and i'm gonna wait for it - does it take 2hrs?

I just need to decide if i want a GSA screen fitting whilst its there - how much would i expect to pay for that (parts and labour)?

Service completed whilst i waited today, about 1hr30mins, £100, engine oil and filter, drive oil, throttles balanced etc. All done with minimal fuss at Wollaston, with the fixed £100 - something to do with dealer incentive at point of purchase (didn't explain when i purchased, or i was too busy looking at the bike to listen!).

I turned down the £450 price for a GSA screen fitted. Might look at 1 of these ZTechnic screens - around £250, or a TT deflector thing for around £150.

Mine was completed yesterday, £150, took 1hr 45m.
First ride out with the Givi Screen fitted, temperatures 0-1'c---What a difference, cruising at speed on Motoraway--:beerjug:

20% less than you thought it would be then. Sounds like a result.

If you are still looking for an alternative screen, I have a brand new Wunderlich Ergo screen here that I bought few months ago and never fitted. I have since decided that I am happy with the stock GSA screen anyway so the Ergo screen is no longer required. Cost about £250 from Nippy Normans I think. I'm in Daventry, so not far if you'd like to see it?

Oops! The screen cost £150 - it was the other farkles that put the bill up to £250. Sorry about that.

What part exactly?

'cause that's what my RT got - I watched them and have the invoice. £100

:nenau

I can't be sure but Skywalker was probably refering to the bit about BMW contributing to the cost. The dealer takes the hit out of the profit they (hopefully) made when they sold the bike, BMW as a manufacturer don't pay anything towards having a first service done. :thumb2

600 mile service

Mine was free, negoiated as part of the initial purchase:thumb2

It really staggers me that people can afford to spend 13k plus for a new motorbike then start bitching about servicing costs! Didn't you do your homework or did you expect it to magically service itself for nothing:nenau FFS:blast

Oh and you can't compare car servicing with bike servicing as some people do. A modern car service consists of plugging the thing into a computor whist the oil is changed and if the computor says it's OK, they don't touch the car.

Hi - is that a Marathon or Xtreme Ergo screen - and clear or smoked? might be interested, and close enough by too.
