First spanner session on 1150gs

Fluids yes especially brakes which absorbs moisture. Engine oil should be done on miles or age. Alternator belt fit a new one and keep old one under the seat as a running spare.

As above, I'd change all the fluids - for what it costs, it's cheap insurance. I've always changed all the fluids on mine every 3k (filter every 6) - probably over the top but it's cheap so why not?...

Oh yes, and also as above the screwdriver through the filter thing is a really bad idea - a filter tool costs a few quid - it's a no-brainer. I believe Steptoe has seen the aftermath of hamfisted idiots punching the screwdriver all the way through into the crankcase?...

Dont need an oil filter tool !!! the lid from a KENCO coffee jar is a perfect interference fit to remove and do up the recessed filter - top tip !!:D
you get a free jar of coffee with it :blast

If someone has fitted it too tight, just tap a long flat head screwdriver into the filter to help undo it - simples ( have a bowl under though !!)

Some people should not be allowed near machinery!
