First stop from Santander - Say max 2hrs to get out off the port and head west along the coast. Thinking of stopping either Gijon or Oviedo?

I don't understand your saying there are no campsite. Almost every town along the coast has at least one!

But of you what something really special inland try the Camping Lagos de Somiedo, stay a few days and take some footwear for walking ...
That looks really nice Simon. On the list for the Spring. Ta (y)

Cudillero is a gorgeous little town.
There is a campsite, just outside, but a hotel in the little port/bay is lovely.
I was going to suggest the same but it’s more than two hours from Santander

Found and booked a small hotel in Cadavedo for one night. Around 180 miles from port.
So here endeth this thread.

It would be handy if, having asked for hotel suggestions, you gave the name of the hotel, along with a follow-up when you’ve stayed there. It might well help others.

Thanks in advance.

Hotel Astur Regal. At £25 a night plus evening meal and breakfast. Not exactly 'Parador' luxury but, sufficient for only myself.
Maybe I do things on the budget scale but, I have 6 weeks to spend my euros.

I have met adventurers on my travels with bikes fully packed whilst staying in hotels and eating in restaurants. Carry more camera and computer equipment than camping gear and tools.

The days of riding with others to foreign lands and staying in the Ritz Carlton, Intercontinental or Sheraton (corporate discounts) for me is now history.

I have edited your post, to put your separate question into its own thread.

A good spot. Stayed a few nights a while ago.

Google maps confirms I ate at El Sotanillo which was a bit of a find, one of those basic places with Formica tables and good, honest local food. I went back the second night. Sadly it seems it no longer exists in that form, just another pizzeria now, looking at the reviews.
