Took her out for the first Sunday Morning ride, since getting her home on Friday. Didnt go too far but just around the local country lanes.

Taking a while getting back into the swing of things having had a long break from bikes, but this boxer engine (first one I have owned) is a peach..

Got a few bits and bobs to put on over the week (thanks Dizzy), mudslinger, aftermarket exhaust etc. Also got some Wunderlich risers to try. Really need to raise the sat van holder though, seems far too low at the moment and will look at maybe some foam grips, as find the grips a bit uncomfortable - probably just getting used to things again.

Nice bike.

Grip puppies will fatten the grips and stop wearing the rubber away, a can of cheap hairspray from Aldi is an easy way to slide them on and set them in place.

I put a pair of grip puppies on my RS last week and they do make a difference. I used water with a bit of washing up liquid in which allows you to take them off without damaging them or the grips if you don't like them

Trouble with the fairy liquid method is they get slippy every time it rains for weeks afterwards, at least mine did. Having used both methods, the hair lacquer method worked better for me as it evaporates fairly quickly and fixes the grips in place. They could still be peeled off if necessary.

What's this riding in the rain you speak of.....

Thanks guys, have got hold of some grip puppies, so will give them a go this week.

Welcome to the boxer club. It’s a characterful lump and whilst not the most powerful of engines is plenty enough unless doing track days. It’ll grow on you though as the torque on tap makes for a great road bike. Power where you meed it when you need it. Despite the odd horror story they’re pretty dependable bikes and nicely screwed together.

I don't find my RS the most comfortable all day bike but comfortable enough that big days in the saddle aren’t a chore. Grip puppies definitely help as do adjustments like horning bar risers and better aftermarket screens. It’s a great do it all bike.

Ive never found any boxxer to be too vibey to be honest but the handlebar position on the RS was for me too on the sporty side of sports touring so I did the Wunderlich high bar conversion and then fitted the up and back bar risers, and cool covers on the seats, the bike for me is truly all day comfi heres a pic GS handguards now removed
