Nice pics, but if you are using the right tech, you dont need to scrape your bike! look at the first, second and theard pics, your bike goes down, while your boddy stands up,your head far away! next time, just open your knee, inside the curve, and keep in line whith the bike, like this:

much easyer, faster,no damages to the bike :thumb

Yes I've got a lot to learn however this was my first track day but maybe not my last. ;) Believe it or not I was trying to hang off a bit but it felt so unnatural I gave up in the end. I think if I was riding a sports bike it wouldn't feel so strange.

Believe me, mate, you have very little to learn! Your pace around that track looks to have been spectacular :thumb

Paul POGO is spot on!

PN, without being there to give you a proper critique on your style, POGOs comments are absolutley correct. The first track day I did on my 1100s was such an eye opener for me as to start I was riding in the "keep it in line and look correct Roadcraft stylee" after my mate and similar equipped fat lardy 40 yr old mate was 3secs a lap (at Donnington) quicker I realised I must be doing something wrong! whilst that technique is tidy and economical for the road the track (as you now know) is a different environ..... get your arse well off the seat, you do not need to pit your knee on the floor ( I dont as my pelvis is not flexible enough and I dont like it) its used as a guide. Getting your arse off the seat lowers teh center of gravity and allows teh bike to stay more upright whilst acrrying teh same speed. What you can then experiment with, is whilst your danglinign your Glutes off the side try moving back wards and forwards as well (one corner at a time) to bias the weight front and rear........ You will discover a whole new cornering world. :thumb
The only bikes quicker on that day were supersport 600s (track marshalls) on race rubber...... Oh and yes we did show up several "knee sliders" namely 2 R1s several Kwaks and Fireplaces and a RSV mille!!!! they all wanted ABS by the time we had finished with them.
I still firmly believe my 12gs is quicker than the 1100s but cant be arsed at the moment to destroy a pair of tyres and set of front barke pads proving the point.......

The best part of your experience will be the amount of new found confidence you will have in your GS on teh road.....enjoy!
:bounce1

Aha,twas you then,I was talking to Andy this afternoon(just got a new brake lever for aforementioned speed tipple  ) and he said there was some one fitting your description having a good lark about.

Well done that man :beerjug:

Yes, I remember Speed Tripple man, tall white hair, blue leathers. I think he was out on Sat (observed run) on a Gold K series BM. :thumb

First Track Day

Yes, I thought leaving your top box on was a nice touch. Put the panniers on as well next time - I'd be interested to see if they ground! Enjoyed the pics, nice going.

First Track Day ?

If that's your first - then heaven help all the pocket rocket boys and girls, when you've had some more track time !!

Well done that man, and damn good pics to boot.

Nice pictures, and the bike looks great leaned over in the corners. I hope to ride a course like that sometime.

That looks like great fun.

Would anyone be interested in arranging a GSer-day down there ?

Not volunteering like as I've got no organisational skills whatsoever but would definitely be interested in trying it out.

Completed my first ever track day today at Prestwold Hall, Loughborough. :D

I started in the fast group and just got faster!!!

Unfortunately it wasn't without incident, and despite having preload as hard as possible, I have now worn away right hand peg, rear brake lever arm, rear brake pedal, side stand, left peg, gear lever and worst of all and suprising right cylinder head...sh1t!

Started to hang off towards the end of the day in an attempt to prevent too much further grounding, but without success. Did manage to get a blemish on my right knee slider though even if it did feel a bit strange!

I have attempted to attach pics...fingers crossed. :thumb
BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :clap :clap :clap

NOW TRY DOING THIS ON A ZX6RGSXRCBRRKWAKASAKI :coold

I've asked them about having a weekend there. There's a rally(read GS) course ther as well.I'll post a seperate thread when I know a bit more :thumb

:clap :clap :thumb Nice one

I regularly track day my ZX-10R, but i've been thinking of having a go on my 12SG (the faster yellow model  ) myself.

I think the 12GS would do really well around a track like Cadwell Park for example.

mmmm….GSer track day at Cadwell, now that’s a thought…….
