and another 120 miles today

found out a few things:

* dealer as good as their word (well done vines)
* 125 is about it!!!!!!!!!!!
* going to take a bit longer and more confidence (and maybe dryer weather)before I can throw it into one of my fav 3figs corners
* a sportsbike is faster point to point (but not much!!)
* its mega comfy
* fuel consumption goes out the window when chasing sports bikes!
* boy its easy to ride when the ground is crud covered
* the brakes on stops me tounching the floor!!!
* the brakes dont seem to work - well they do but lack of dive is a weird thing to adjust to

I'm looking forward to a good winters riding and a few thousand miles :D

I think mine was pretty much topped out - took an age to get the last few mph - maybe the engine needs a few more miles on it to loosen up.

Defo. Them Boxers take a long time to bed in - 12-15,000 miles and they are smooting out and reving freely :thumb2

When you come to a stop, let the brakes off and then back on and you'll be able to touch the floor again. The suspension rises and is held there on the brakes, letting the brake off allows it to sink back down :thumb2

Two more points; don't worry about the lack of front end dive and feel, learn to have a bit of blind faith and trust it - the front end is, once you are used to it, one of the best features of the GS.
Secondly, they have one of the longest action throttles ever fitted to a production bike. Learn to take a second handful of throttle and it's like another bike the way the engine responds :)

yeah...working out the best way to stop - let go and grab again does seem to work but needs practice.

wasnt quite at the red line...but close ;)

only done 250 miles so far, sure once I have a few more under my belt i'll be slinging it in as before :D

cant wait to do some serious miles, and the trip to France with a few from here next may!!! maybe I will ahve to do April trip too ;)

ottomunch - what do you mean secomnd handful - literally snap throttle off and one again?? or just thwap it harder and for more of a wrist turn??

You need to be almost double jointed in order to rotate the throttle all the way to the stop (from closed) and coupled with the fact that it has such a good mid range pull a lot of peeps don't realise that the throttle has further to go.

No, don't let the throttle snap shut :eek: :D, just hold where it is, slide hand back round a bit a twist some more IYSWIM.

in other words, wring like the wife's lover's neck!!! :lol:

gotcha ;)

Andres is of course absolutely correct. When you ride another bike after the GS it feels like you are going to go over the bars when you brake. :eek:

As has been said already, it takes a lot of miles until you get the best from your GS, but it is well worth waiting for. They handle much better than you initially think they are capable of and are very confidence inspiring.

Enjoy. :thumb2

That must be a record one week of ownership & not a breakdown wish we all had GS1200 like yours :spitfire:spitfire:spitfire
