2008 GSA - 1st week of ownership report

Cheers Andy, I just perish the thought of the bike packing up whilst filtering in and out at 60mph, it's either going to make me look very silly or I'm climbing into that wooden box at 41 years young:blast

AAaarghhh,,, my head's a shed with all this pondering

Don't ponder... do it and enjoy :thumb

I picked up my brand new spanking GSA last Monday. Dealer imported a few from UK with all the balls and whistles. I rode RT's for years and luckily wasn't easily influenced by comments posted on RT forum ( mainly U.S.A. owners ). they were paranoid by the prospect of F.D. failure and other issues, none of which affected me. I did have a leaking diff seal but my main dealer sorted it out in about 15 mins and didn't even charge for the work. My opinion on the various issues is RIDE, RIDE, RIDE and enjoy fully.

Glad you like your new gs,i agree with the lights did the upgrade from Les.
Top man on price and service. They realy do work.:)
chers bob:beerjug:

I'm also into my second week of GSA ownership (having previously owned 3 standard GS's).

However, i tried to fit my HiD lights (dip&main) from my 06 GS. But the GSA canbus won't recognise them and displays 'Bulb Failure' and they don't light.

Could it be because i have the full ESA, ASC, ABS, tyre pressure shabang:confused::mad:

Apart from that, oh, and the ASC wont let me wheelie :blastunless I switch it to ‘enduro mode’ or off completely. Which means I have to plan ahead for wheelies, and cant just crack one off on impulse.:augie

Apart from that, my GSA is the absolute dogs danglies. I just love the ESA modes and the engine feels much smoother and more responsive than my 06 GS.:bow

Right, time to ride….:moped:

That's it, been out on a test ride again wet & windy so great conditions for testing and it was awesome. Felt light and balanced and smooth as you like.
ESA is brill.
09 bike now reserved in Magnesium for delivery 20th April.

Another happy dude!:)

They dont like 35watt HID's but 50 watt setup works fine

Bugger:blast...looks like i'll have to flog 35w HiDs and buy some 50's then.

Wheres Les!!!

I have a 35 watt fitted to my dipped beam on an '08 fully loaded GSA and it lights 95% of the time. Les thinks the occassional time it doesn't is due to the battery. Usually turning the ignition off and on again cures the problem so I don't think it's an inherent problem with the HID.

I have had my GSA for three weeks now, put 1,000 miles on it and I'm getting happier and happier.

Ok then, I’ll have to have another go with my 35w HiDs. But I’ll turn the ignition on/off.

It's good to here reports on the new GSA. Mine is still in Munich and I have to wait until the end of the month. Time is moving too slowly.

If it's in Munich................it's at the wrong factory

BMW bikes aren't built in Bavaria:augie

GSA

I had some problems with the EWS, fuel pump, front forks etc, etc on my 2007 GS - have all of these been ironed out on the 08 GSA?

Im thinking of a used one any suggestions on dealers?

I Ordered My GSA this saturday, but I have to wait until late May for delivery, which sucks as I am bikeless at the moment. I know you shouldn't wish your life away but I want it to be late May tomorrow!!!!!!!
