Well Saturdays recce was a bit eventful but I got through it.
The Sally Gap road is still firmly closed & I wouldn't be confident that it'll be much better by next Saturday
Heading up from Kilkee :
There's a car-sized gap at the side of the barrier & while I was stopped at the bottom a car came down so I thought I'd have a looksee.
Unfortunately about a mile later it became apparent that it still wasn't open for PTW's :

So, discretion being the better part of valour, I set off back down the hill to go around, rather than over, to Laragh........................................
Full details of timings etc as soon as I've 'corrected' the route

any rough idea of time for the return trip from Kilmore? I'm sitting an exam on Sat morning,in Dublin which finishes at 12.30 (although I might be finished a good bit earlier than that

This is a spin from Dublin to Kilmore Quay to (a) to blow away the Christmas 'cabin fever' & (b) attempt to find the bestest fish & chips on this island, preferably in sight of the sea, as per the original vision of our very own Bin Ridin. To date we've been to Salthill, Waterford & Ballycastle with the latter being the best IMHO.
It's open to ALL, no matter what colour, race, creed, sexual persuasion or even type of motorcycle. Those with hi-vis vests & aux lights are especially welcome
As has become the norn we'll be using the Drop Off System
But, as always, on yer own heads be it. I'm not yer Mammy & I'm not taking responsibility for youse
We'll be heading off from the Topaz on the Tallaght By-pass. It's between the M50 & Belgard Road, on the left as you head out of town. We'll be leaving there before 09.30 so I suggest we meet about 09.00 for a cuppa & a chat. Full tank & empty bladder please. Waypoint for Topaz (for those that can't open the attachment) is IO 10311 27542.
We'll have a short 'comfort' stop in Aughrim for those still so afflicted to have their nicotine fix before we head on to Bunclody for a cuppa. We'll stop at the TLC cafe beside Supervalu on the Dublin Rd. Waypoint IS 90792 56944. We hope to be here from about 11.45 for 30 minutes.
Lunch will be at the Saltee Chippy in Kilmore Quay. Waypoint is IS 96541 03214. We aim to be here by about 13.30 but as you know traffic, weather, punctures, etc will hold us up so we might be a little later than that
