would you be the same guy who was to follow me to dublin but who i did not see after the first mile or so

Thanks for the welcome but wasn't me you were talking to.

GSers in the mist

I made a late start waiting for the fog to clear. Decided not to wear the heavy socks with the light boots, an hour down the room with frozen feet I had to visit M+S in Clonmel for tights and socks.
"She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" the weather witch of the North hadn't got her speels write. It didn't rain, but I was sodden from the moisture of the mist.
Between Waterford and New Ross I saw some blue sky in the distance but then plunged back into the clouds. The GPS took me by potholed, loose dressing, meandering back roads to somewhere near the hidden sea and then about 5km from Kilmore Quay I rode into the sun - directly into the sun.

A few more that the usual suspects had turned up. The beer battered haddock was lovely.

All too soon, I had to make tracks.
Broke my glasses just before the return and my spare pair left me with double vision. Lost both GerryCs outside New Ross, thought they were ahead.

Fog got thicker as the evening came and the temp dropped to 2C around 16h30, I was too cold to go on, so I stopped in a Kentucky Fried in Clonmel for a warm up Zinger and tea.
Got back home around 18h00 after a few near misses when I lost sight of the verges on the back roads near home.

This will be one of my most memorable rides. In the past, I've had colder rides, but I've never ridden for so long in such poor visiblity. I thought that I was getting too old for this - you never know if you can until you've tried.

I hope that all of the other adventure riders go home safe. Look forward to seeing some of you at the Photo Rally do.

When is the next Fish Dash?

Big special thanks to the PRC and Kingdom reps who hauled their asses from the Feahr Whesht!

It was a great day, to which one and all contributed, each in their own way. My thanks to Ghost, without whose help I would still be in the Fox Hunter (and the place for you, says Jockser)

Until the next one, remember the motto of the Fish-Dashista's

"The World is our Lobster"!

Sorry I missed out again!!!! got as far as Clough roundabout on N11 (about 5miles) and pulled up punctured.....Didnt get it sorted till about 4pm....day gone... looked like great crack.... catch ye all again sometime soon..

About time some of the others posted theirs too. :green gri

Too drained last night - my eyes were out on stalks from trying to see tru the fog. As Nud1e (roughly) says there have been wetter, there have been colder days and there have been longer days but no foggier days.
It was a memorable day and glad am I not to have missed it.
Note the warm smiles from a cold girl and the hooded man.

I crossed the Wicklow Gap about an hour ahrad of the pack to check out a few potential Phto Rally locations in the Ashford - Wicklow town area.
There was ice on the road in places. Texted a warning to the leader and abandoned research in the interests of staying vertical. Rejoined the pack near Rathdrum where a car accident served as a useful chicane for a slippery section. We left the frost for the fog - a fair trade.
The last of the photos.

Hiya. owen here. Black and yellow GSA. Had a great time yesterday and enjoyed meeting one and all. Decided to sign up in the site as a result. Fresh start and all that...

Cracking ride though folks. The light was fairly incredible at times. At one point we were riding with the sun at our backs in the fog and it was like something out of a movie. Had a few momentslike that in fact.

Fantastic fish and chips too.

Great ride, tasty fish, nice to see a bunch of new faces.

The next time my wife offers me her pink neck warmer when I can't find my own, maybe I'll give it a miss...:D

Thanks / Possible sticker for day?

Jockser, Bin thanks lads, appreciate recce's and efforts that need to be put in before any ride out!
Had a great day, needed it badly to blow cobwebs off, fantastic group of people, so welcoming to a complete stranger, cheers!

Looking forward to next one...

Was going to do a sticker to mark the day, if anyone wants one let me know and I'll do a layout and work out qty.

Thanks again,
Lloyd :thumb2

Just home - great run out. Great to meet a few more people and looking forward to the next one!

Paddy Dakar - sticker sounds good! :thumb

Once again Jockser you triumphed, and Orla and I have to say we were so glad to see Bin's yellow jacket ahead of us when we 'went on a slight detour'.

Brilliant riding as said before almost offroading at times. Great to meet new people although I went on my forst outing less than a year ago may I say old friends too - not :rob.

Mandy and Aiden sorry you guys could not make it hope to see you both soon.

Geraldine
