Rather late reply, but yes, that’s me. And another book called “Glas”. www.lens57.com. All sold out now though, which is nice.
I’ve been out and about in Skye with my fly rod. A productive brown trout session on the Snizort, though nothing large, and an unproductive session with many midges yesterday on Loch na Sguabaidh near Torrin. Heading up to the Storr Lochs to take a boat out on Friday or Saturday.
Sorry chaps, this got lost in the ether, and fell between the cracks of my technology crazy paving!
Skye fishing is better north and west. Staffin used to be OK, but it is now overrun with campervans. Later in the season might be better. My sister's campsite is at Camus More, about 5 or 6 miles north of UIg, on the map it is the horseshoe bay just up the coats, Bornaskitaig in the township of Linicro. On the map you will you will see the single track road that runs down to the pier, about 1/2 mile before there is a X roads, turn right and park out of the way at the end. head over the footpath to the cliffs and anywhere you can get down is good for lithe (pollack), a 5 or 6 lber is pretty regular. I have had several over 10lbs off the roacks at the basalt columns, a bit more lefthanded, it is obvious where you can get down. If you go at sunset on the top of a rising tide, you can catch them on surface lures - great fun!
Bass - Islay, in the sea lochs NE side, RSPB reserve and the northern beaches.
Kyle of Durness, by the monument on the little headland, the ferry rocks, and around the mouth of the estuary. Further round, the beach with the Kirk, a bit of a blow is better to put some fizz in the water. Bass like plenty of movement - surf, they will come into 1ft deep water. Tide flow otherwise.
Ayreshire coast - anywhere there is rocky reefs, Girvan southwards is good. Down the Mull of Galloway, and around towards Wigtown, anywhere you have bouldery beaches, but also Luce Bay on a rising tide as it comes over the worm beds.
That should keep you going!
I would be completely up for a long weekend fishing/ camping - is there any appetite for that kind of thing?

Did you hike to Liuravay too? There are supposed to be char in there.How did you get on at the Storr Lochs? Did they get a Mayfly hatch this year?

Didn't hike to Liuvray today. Too windy for Stoo lochs today but I have had some banging rainbows out of there. I had some good success on the Kilmartin at Staffin today as well, including a brown trout that required my net to land, which I haven't used for a while.
I might nip up to the Snizort next week where I am sure I will catch an immense salmon.
I was very distracted by the background especially as the sun played around on the ridge. The wild brown trout are extremely tricky and I missed many as they are so fast and sneaky.
Answering previous questions, yes it is Seven Acres Campsite - I have stayed there in the past and it is both very nice and handy for various fishings, both sea and fresh.
Are you fishing inland or close to the outlet? Say hello to my nephew, Duncan, they live at Kensalyre. He has the diggers and cement lorry for the island.
Kilmartin was inland up the little road a way. Some nice pools and riffles up there.
