fitted a pair

I have used the same LEDs! They are great! :thumb

Because I don't like extra big on/off switch on my handlebar I have used Honda CRF type kill button with integrated led light.
I asked a friend to make me an electonic with bistable relay to operate the LEDs. With a single push of a button I turn the LEDs ON or OFF. When they are ON, the integrated led in the kill button is also on.

Here is the catch of the electronic:
even if the LEDs are ON when I turn off the bike, they stay OFF when I start the bike again.

Do you guys have them wired so they are always on so relay feed from the dipped beam?? Then say an independent switch for when you want them off??

In my case they are always off; they are ON if I press the button.
If the LEDs are ON when I turn off the bike, then when I turn the bike ON again the LEDs stays OFF until I turn them ON via button.

Slight mistake, the LED are 10 watt not 18, but are £50 posted, I can get COB lights which are 20 watt, slightly bigger overall but bright, they are £85 a pair posted.

I ended up getting hold of 2 sets of 10Watt Cree Spotlights - these were a third of the BMW originals in size and about 10 times brighter. Made from Aluminium and they fit the BMW mounts perfectly! The only extra I had to buy was a set of the Male Plugs to cut and convert the Lights themselves so they fit onto the BMW harnass.......... I just did not want to cut the BMW loom..........

The LED lights are now available on eBay - we ended up scrapping the importing due to the fact that a few of the Tossers already sell LED spots and I did not want to tread on toes.... have a looksee at these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301203439546?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

they are the same lighst - just different new housing

Unfortunately those lights come with some really stupid DEUTCH plugs........... horrible stuff.... you'd need to get a set of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-H8-H9-H...M&hash=item5af8fdf057&clk_rvr_id=676890813795

What you're trying to get to is the last pic here............ neater job and best of all - without cutting the bike's cables!

Nice and neat..............

Big difference in size............ and does not protrude as much so the bars should now protect the spots!

Ordered these from Les. This is the latest technology and apparently 20w COB put out at least 1800 lumens; which is twice a normal car headlamp x 2! (10w Cree are around 800-900 lumens). We are not far off LED technology putting out more light per watt than HID's, with the advantage of running cool, longer life and no addition ballast/HV cases. How about 20w COB H7 bulbs that almost put out the same light as 35w HID's .............

So are these both plug and play Les, I already have your HID's fitted on my GSA and would like a brighter spot replacement but I don't want to cut the loom.

Going to get a plug and play package set up with them, straight onto the GSA plug.

Anyone wanting LED spots to support main beam can run just the two lights and avoid dazzle.

Wire the lights as normal (via separate switch or Adv "aux headlights" switch). Angle the lights shine with main beam. To avoid dazzling others, wire in a pulse width modulated dimmer. Set the dimmer to give suitable non dazzle light setting.

With LEDs this reduces light output but does not change the light colour.

To get full power with main beam run a bypass wire from the main beam live wire to the output side of the dimmer. This will bypass the dimmer and put full power to the lights when main beam is on. When main beam is off modulated dimmed power will stop the lights dazzling everyone else.

Hard to take a picture as they are so bright, little bigger and rounder than LED units, but excellent light.

I will take a night shot later.

Phone camera does not really do the light justice, not a bad beam at all for a contained unit that uses very little power, two should give a really good spread.
