i all ready have johns chip fitted. and iv just complected fitting the pc wideband i haven't been on the bike yet but it runs lumpy from start up would it be best the remove the chip and just have the pc fitted. any advise on setting the pc up or getting hold of any maps there is only 2 to down load from dyno jet site
thanks

I've got Johns stage 7 chip fitted, not too sure if it runs any better than the original chip !!! and to be totally honest I know feck all about such thing, but I definitely would only use ONE or the OTHER.

Or maybe it just needs setting up on a Rolling Road ? :rob

Would suggest you send Roger04RT a PM, he seems to know his stuff. He is a regular poster to John's chip thread.

I've been trying to get John to make a chip with timing changes only for someone who has lambda-shifted with an AF-XIED, LC-2 or PC w/Wideband. So far, I haven't been able to get him to see the light.

There is a big area that you can't adjust on the PC w/Wideband. This is because Power Commander don't want you trying to add fuel in the Closed Loop area. The best thing to do is set a map to NO fuel added or removed across the entire map--in other words Zeros everywhere in the map. Then set the Closed Loop AFR (which is programmable) to either 13.5:1 or 13.8:1. Then reset your Motronic by pulling Fuse 5 for 10 minutes, key on, rotate throttle fully twice, key off.

That's all you need to do. At first you will notice:

--higher idle RPM
--a lower tone to the exhaust
--greatly improved drivability

Then after 4-5 tanks of gas, when Mixture Adaptation has worked its magic developing long term and short term trims, you will find you've got strong performance across the Board.

After that period of time, there are a few cells in the small throttle area, above 2500 RPM, that I can make some recommendations for added fuel--but only in that area. It may remove any light-throttle surging if you still have any.

My suggestion is that you don't spend any money on a Dyno tune. I think you'll love your bike when the fueling is set between 13.5 and 13.8:1. I'm at 13.5 now and it is just great.

I forget, are you dual spark or single?

single spark
thank you for the info

I took Rogers advice, worked for me :thumb

Would I pay for a full priced pc3, no way! The change is subtle but worth the small amount I paid for my secondhand unit.

What do you have the Closed Loop AFR set to? You might find a greater effect with a richer mixture.

I wouldn't pay full price for the PC-3 w/Wideband since the only part you really need is the Wideband. An AF-XIED or Innovate Motorsports LC-2 can do the same job for half the price. The one improvement you can make is in the light-throttle, high RPM area by adding some fuel there with the PC-3 table. But that should only be done after a long Adaptation time, several tanks of fuel at least.
