Pondering my next winter mod already, was wondering if anyone has fitted a set of 1100s wheels with abs rings to their gs? I looked at the later ones the other day and the abs rings are totally different to my 1100, are they a universal fitment, as in will they work on my bike or do i need to replace sensors too? the later ones seem to fit using the same bolt holes as the discs, as opposed to my wheels which are seperate and instead of being made out of cast metal seem to be out of pressed light alloy? i stand to be corrected, but all i want to know is if it is posssible to fit a set in my gs without too much hassle!!

Thanks,Goose

abs discs

Goose,

All do the same job. I`ve an 1100 that did have the cast abs discs on the seperate mounting. When you get 1150r wheels you can use the pressed perforated ring as the abs simply reads the gaps.

Barry.

Be aware that the R1100S front wheel doesn't have a speedo drive doo-hickey inside the hub. R1150R/RS/RT wheels are better as they all have speedo's driven from the front wheel.

You just can't help but SM a bike can you :D

If you want a lighter more responsive ride you should've bought a 12 :dabone ;)

Lighter, yes. More responsive, perhaps. Better? Not from where I was sitting for a hour's test ride. I'll stick with my modified 1150, thanks - progress or not, on a typical bumpy, twisty UK B-road give me the planted feel of the 1150 over the 'flighty' 1200 any day.

Wasn't having a dig at 1150's just at the Goose :D

Really can't be bothered with all the 1150 v 1200 bollox  and TBH if you think a heavy MoFo such as the 1200 is 'flighty' god only knows what your idea of 'planted' must feel like  ;)

Thanks all so far, even Andres ( :redbone :redbone ) :D

Once the beak is fitted up i think i'll be looking at the wheels, maybe a twin exhaust too......love the zorstec one on here, but too steep for me, will no doubgt fathom out a cheaper option! Has anyone seen/got any pics of a gs with an S underseat system on?.....
If i work out how to host pics, i'll post some with my new adv back end,

I asked the same question a while back and it seemed that no-one had tried it, ot ar least wouldn't admit to it! The attraction for me, other than looks, was the ability to fit a full-sized pannier on the LHS. However an 1100S system would be heavier than standard (because it has two cans and a longer link pipe) and, if you follow the 'mass centralisation' theory would have a negative (but probably immeasureably small) effect on the bikes ability to turn.

Bugger the theory, though - it would look good :)

Interesting. Don't like it myself (particularly the solid back wheel) - looks like something out of Mad Max and I don't mean that in a good way!

If I fitted an S exhaust I'd need to retain the standard rear subframe, pillion pegs, seats (including pillion), pannier rails etc.

Quite a few pics of GS's with underseat exhausts here

They do create other problems, though, like indicator & numberplate mountings.

Or you could always try this route, exhaust wise ...... ;)
