Fitting a beak extension

Just tried fitting a beak extension / protector to my 05 R1200GS and think I've done it right but wanted to check.

I needed 2 longer screws and collars to be able to fit it which I obtained from Motorworks. The collars are just small metal tubes according to the tech diagram but when they came they have like a washer on the end of them but is part of the collar if that makes sense? (Looks a bit like a top hat with a hole through it?)

Anyway, neither I nor the guys at Motorworks know where this collar is supposed to go as it doesn't show on the diagram and there's no obvious place to put it. For now I've pushed the collar bit through the beak extension from the inside of it then pushed the screw from the outside, through the collar, through the main beak and into the clip fastener that's already there on the inside of it. This means the 'washer' part of it is pushing against the main beak but allows a small gap between it and the beak extension.

If anyone can have a quick look at their GSA or GS with beak extension fitted and let me know which way I should be putting these collars in I would be grateful!

Tim think as far as I can remember you dont need special screws or washers, when it was fitted on my bike I just used the standard screws. Unless the 05 diffesr to the 06? Regards Brian

I tried the standard screws but they were too short so ordered the longer ones. According to the tech diagram there should also be 2 metal collars that space the extension from the beak.

I think it's right the way I've done it but all the collars do is stop you from squashing the extension against the beak.

Your bike may simply have had longer screws to begin with Brian? To be honest anyone would have longer screws than me the way my luck's been going!

I fitted my beak extension (05 bike) with the original screws. They are more than long enough. No need for any spacers.
