I know it's possible to fit a GSA tank to a GS, and that it's a bit of a pain, but has anybody got a link as to what is required please?

I really like just the links please, if any, not interested in buying another bike.

It's just a straight swap, no real pain involved, well except the eye-watering price of the GSA tank. If youre swapping internals over too you can bend the float arm slightly to correct the fuel gauge. some say its best to get a new sealing ring if youre doing this (personally ive reused them several times without issue) and careful not to strip the little threaded studs.

As gog says, it's a straight swap. I got a bare tank, so reused the internals from my standard tank. I was able to get hold of 'adventure' float arm which, although a little fiddly, is also a straight swap so my fuel reads correctly

Excellent, thank you.

I thought there was a crossover tube or something?

Thank you for the info about the float arm, just replaced the filter and pump in mine.

there is, but if it doesnt come with the tank, its just literally a simple crossover pipe with a quick disconnect. slightly narrower ID than the main fuel pipes IIRC, 6mm vs 8mm.

Steve, yes there is also a balance pipe that runs under the tank between the two lobes, forgot to mention that. If you don't get one with the tank it's easy enough to make one up with (I think) 6mm hose, not the 8mm that goes to and from the pump, and 90 degree quick connects.

I didn't get the balance pipe when I got my tank so made one up with QDs at either end, accessible from the sides, so that the balance pipe stays in situ when I remove the tank. That way I don't have to feed it under each time.

I like that idea. Had my tank off a couple of times this year, that balance pipe is a real pain to feed back on your own.

The ‘eye-watering price’ of my ADV tank was £165 back in 2004, before anyone really knew how modular they were... And it was in the fastest black/mandarin colours ;)

Don’t be afraid to get one with a few marks on it as you’ll pick it up cheaper, but it works just as well under a Baglux cover.

Piece of p*ss to fit , utter P.I.T.A to buy a decent tank at a less than eyewatering price

Me neither. I have a full tank for nearly 100 miles, then it steadily drops until the reserve light comes on, when I know I have around 100 miles left to empty (depending how I’m riding). In another life, I emptied the entire tank in 165 miles, running dry as I turned into the fuel station.

As others have said, it’s an easy job but I still haven’t changed the float in mine so the fuel gauge works :blast

Is it just a case of swapping the float arm from the big tank to the sender on the small tank?
