Hi Guy's.. for what ever reason, my bike was spec'd without heater grips (actualy I talked to owner number 1 and he was so fed up with the BMW ones going bad, he didn't want them?)... so I'm going to fit Oxford ones I guess...
Does anyone know the size I need... and does the control unit turn off by itself when the engine stops?

ok.. bring it on

I’ve fitted a few sets of grips. Honestly I don’t know what size you need. They need to be wired to a ignition controlled live feed otherwise you will flatten the battery if you forget to turn them off. I’d check if you can use the original bmw wireing if present it will save you some bother. What bike is it. Someone will come along who has done the job to the same bike as yours. JJH

1200 GS LC 2015... Don't think the BM loom will take them and you'd also need to tell the ECU they were there etc.. not worth messing. Lost of BNIB ones on eBay from £15... And probably work better than OE... Just need to know the size

Oxford adventure ones. Just wire straight into the battery with an auto shut off if the battery’s draining so don’t worry about CANBUS or flattening the battery . Had them in my last bike and my C1. Much better than the standard BMW ones

Not sure on the size you wil need, but can recommend oxford grips. Had these on my last bike and they worked well, the latest controller units are very good and do switch off with the ignition ( slight delay) even though they’re directly wired to the battery.

thanks.. thats great... they should be able to detect voltage drop when the bike stops and switch off these days as you now say they do.....

looks like the OF690 ones do the job... full kit for £49... :)

dont bother,in the colder wetter seasons fit some short style muffs like the barkbusters that i have and find perfect.Have not used the heated grips this winter yet even commuting in minus 8.
Heated grips imo very overated .
If they are not factory fitted they always look messy fitted as well but maybe thats just me.

TBH.. I've used them in summer.. hands can get cold these days (age :( ) remember one in June having to stop as it was so cold... Once you've had heated grips I think its hard to give them up :)

what about heated gloves... any one tried them?

Heated gloves any good?.. also Oxford do wrap around pads.. you could always have these under the seat just in case
