Fitting an Innovv K7 dashcam

My K6 is run from the USB. Make sure your memory card is U3 & that you’ve formatted it. Camera should power up when you turn on the ignition & go off a minute or so after turning off the ignition. When the camera is recording the red led is solid.
I had an issue with my camera not recording. It would turn on but the red led flashed for a while then it powered off. After emailing Innovv it was a fault with the memory card but I reformatted it, factory reset the camera & it’s been fine since.

Forgot to say that I have to put my iPhone into airplane mode before I connect to the Innovv app otherwise it won’t connect. Not sure if it’s just with iPhones or Androids too.

My phone is android and I don't have to do that

I think it was good advice to go for the K6 over the K7. A lot less fiddly to fit and no large boxes to fit in no spare room available. I just need to get the thing working as I want!
Agreed. I use the K6 on two bikes and have fitted them for others. Relatively easy with either direct from battery or usb power supply.

I'm very happy with my K6. Fitting the rear is very simple - straight under the rear carrier. I don't know if this gives a problem with a top-box as I never use one. Feeding the cable to the front takes a little time if you want to do it neatly - panel removal and cable ties etc. I was unsure where to fit the front camera. Initially I was thinking either beak or crash-bars, but finally decided on making a small bracket and fixing it next to the indicator. This provides both vertical & horizontal movement. Camera angle looks wrong in the pictures - bike is in the garage on its centre stand. Power is via the USB socket - on & off with the ignition.

I went with the K6 as well as it seemed like the simplest set up. With the vario top box mounting is super convenient above the break light, I’ve got the Touratech rack now so the rear camera has been moved back a bit but still works.

Front camera is a bit bigger than the last one I mounted so I’m struggling to find a discrete solution. For now it live above my spot light.

That looks a nice front set-up.

How do people find the phone app? Personally, I find it very slow to load videos. I take the card out and pop it in my laptop.

Thanks. I’d like it to be more discrete and have just thought of an option I have tried yet. Mounting below the light bar and have it inside the lamp rather than outside. Might see if that works later

I'm very happy with my K6.
Did you resolve the recording issue? (i.e. Do you need to have your phone connected to record?)
Do the cameras also record sound?
Am I correct in thinking the K6 doesn't have a GPS so it doesn't log position?

Cheers

Bob

Your phone is only connected to the unit to access the footage if required. The unit records and stores the info including sound on the storage card. Make sure you use a proper card (class 10) . It doesn't have GPS. It's a great camera

I’m thinking of fitting an Innovv K7 dashcam (front & rear) system to my 1250GS. My concern is where to fit the control unit and the GPS module. As I already have both a BMW alarm and a Datatool tracker fitted in the pillion seat area, I’m a bit stuck for space.

I’ve had a look at some of the online videos. Apparently, it is not advisable to fit the control unit on top of the ECU under the rider seat as it seems to fit if the seat is in the high position, but not in the lower position that I use.

One place that is suggested is to removed the nearside DIN plug and fit the unit inside the cover.

Has anyone else faced these issues with the K7, and if so, how did you get round it? Pictures would be greatly appreciated.

I have just fitted an Innovv RC6 Third Eye and Camera set to my 1250GS and fitted the Control Module as per the attached photo due to the Seat in lowest position problem and this sorted it for me. Don't know if the K7 Module is thicker than the RC6 module.

Recording - no problem. I was the problem more than the camera! :D Sound is recorded, again, no problem. Not sure about the GPS, it's not something I've considered

Thanks guys.

New mounting solution being tried out. A pair of Innov brackets with a washer and bolt I had in the garage to give me enough space by the indicator.

Will test it out next week but it has a better field of view then by the spot light.

This is how I fitted my K6 front Camera using an M5 Clip Nut (eBay pack of 5) slipped into the existing central slot under the Beak. Still easy to remove the Memory Card or press the Camera Button but not too obvious and the recorded image is sufficiently stable.

That’s the cleanest I’ve seen. Might have to order some clip nuts!
