Hi
Any help instructions on how to fit 300 kit to f800gs would be greatful.
if its hard to do:confused: will go to dealers:eek:

As I haven't a clue on whether you have any idea on how to use a torx screwdriver / soldering iron etc etc then for me it was easy, but I've done a few on other GS's. Also is the 300 bigger than the 200 which does fit nicely under the upper panel (between the battery and air filter)?

If you have any doubts, ask your dealer to wire into the canbus plug that is under the upper panel ;)

We have only seen the one f800 here fitted via a dealer, there is a small section on the bikes under the tank which A is a pain to get to for adjustments and B the system was very noisy due to the bikes interference being given off.

So we took the system off the bike and the system had to be kept on person as there is NO room at all on the bike for any of our systems to be fitted so they run for how they are designed. As in no noise at all when the mcs are closed and definately no interference.

Got a 200 in there and so far it's been ok. No GPS / phone / radio etc, just music from an MP3 player in the tank bag. Not the easiest place to get at for adjustments, though easier than the F650 single if you put it in a similar position.

autocom 300

I fitted mine about a month ago, sits neatly behind the battery, power from aux socket next to battery (aux power lead from bm approx £5.00), phone and mp3/radio in tailpack.

The only issue I had was the rider/passenger leads, I had to swap them around in the control unit as the longer lead is the rider and on a front mount such as the 800 the short lead would not reach the passenger.

I agree the control panel on the 300 is difficult to get to on the 800 however once set the the unit works spot on.

I have no problems with any interference noises at all..

Top piece of kit..

My husband and i fitted an 300 kit to my 650. We have never fitted anything like it before but it was quite easy to fit. I have not noticed any interference etc - I fitted the kit to the rear of the bike, near the tail light.

Fitted

Update fitted 300 unit under seat near taillight wired to aux socket everything perfect also bluetooth dongle and ipod fit in there also:clap:clap:beer::beer:

My Autocom 200 was fitted under the seat between the seat clips, infront of the Alarm unit. However, i'm concerned that it's going to get wet and fail, as there is a gap between the seat and the tray which certainly get's wet when i wash the bike with a hose.
- at the moment it works fine....

Rich, I am planning to get a top of range Autocom fitted shortly for bike to bike, rider to rider only com. I guess based on what you said above that the control and radio for the GS will have to go in a tail/tank bag. My wifes bike is an 800ST which I think can accomodate the gear on the bike, right? I will most likely take the bikes up to Warwick to your shop to get the system fitted. Any comments/suggestions welcome. Cheers

I've fitted quite a few Autocoms to F800's and F650's ... you can ... if your willing to be a little inventive ... fit a Super pro Avi and a Kenwood TK3201 underneath the top panel...

I can't remember exactly how I squeezed it in but it does mean removing the black plastic bar that holds the battery down, once you've removed that you can squeeze the Super Pro down the back of the battery ... and I do mean squeeze ... the Kenwood will fit down the side of the left hand panel ... or it might have been the right hand ... anyway ... no need for zip ties or velcro as it can't move a millimeter ... this is handy as there ain't the room for zip ties or velcro...

As for interference ... the only time I noticed any was when I ran the ground back to the battery ... and even then it was not so bad ... tap into the power for the auxiliary socket and you won't go wrong...

Disclaimer - if it all goes tits up ... you ain't seen me ... roight?...

I velcro’d my 200 directly to the top face of the air-filter cover and used the little slot by the battery as a handy cable dump for the Bluetooth / isolating boxes and excess cabling. As mentioned by Diamaduk you’ll need to switch the rider and passenger leads around. I’ve been back under the fake take once to tweak the volume settings but otherwise it’s all good.
I get a small amount of interference, engine whine, when my zumo’s turned on but it’s virtually unnoticeable at any speed. (both the zumo and Autocom are powered by the spare canbus socket under the fake tank cover)

You don't need to swap the passenger and rider leads ... just add another extension to the passenger lead and save yourself the messing around ... also means that you won't have to change them back if you mount it on another bike...

Fitted mine also between that gap and had no problem whatsoever.:thumb
