I'm feeling that juddering when braking that tells me that my discs are in need of replacement. It looks a straightforward job..

Wheel off
Old discs off
New discs on
Wheel on

The bike is a 02 1150GS.

Am I missing something or is it as straightforward as it looks ???

Nope, that's it pretty much...:thumb

Just be careful with the bolts on the Discs, they can be a wee bit of a bugger to get undone..

As CC says - Make sure the bit is well seated in the bolt head. If it slips out - you'll knacker the splines :rob

Cheers all.

Funny you should say that Dave, it also looks like my clutch is on the way out too. Dealer quoted around £800

Are both discs shagged?.
Should you change the discs as a pair like you would a car or would changing only one cause an imbalance/bad practice WHY?.
Fit new pads to new discs anyway.

You can buy the clutch kit for £150 ish from independents, but the real cost is in time.Plenty of info on hear and on ADVrider about changing a clutch, but you can find other problems that need to be fixed.Knackered wheel/paralever bearings, rotten clutch pipes, dry drive splines and stripping gearbox splines to mention a few.

Discs.

I shopuld put on your best suit for bank manager visit with all the hassel in store, bet he sends you a christmas card this year!. Give steptoe a ring a bit of a jouney but could save you a few bob.

With regard to fitting the discs can anyone assist with a torque setting for the bolts ........

I will be using new bolts so should i be using Loctite?
