Round 'n' round in circles.........
I understand that you cannot fit a Givi box to a Adventure and you have to fit the BMW's own box..........but someone somewhere must have done it?

If so how did you do it and how much hassle was it?

Alan

Spooky, I just asked virtually the same question in the "technical" forum this morning. I would presume you can fit them, as the GIVI website lists a specific plate for the 03 Adventure 1150GS. I just wanted to see what it looked like, and how it mounted...If you get any info, let me know. I'll do likewise. I don't want to shell out for the BMW box...don't think it's worth it.

Cheers../Rob

Try Hepco & Becker...

...If you can't get a Givi, the H&B rack is easy to fit, can't fault the box either.:beerjug:

Cheers Bawdy. Trouble is, I've got a GIVI box already, so feel obliged to fit the GIVI rack. Being Scottish, don't want to spend unecessary dosh, especially give I've just bought the bike :-)) Could you take a more distant shot so I can see what it looks like from an overview perspective. I've only seen them with the alloy topboxes. Pain in the hole I am, I know. If you're round ,my neck of the woods, I'll give you a nice drop of red...;-))
Bloody typical here too, it's been great for weeks, and I'm due to pick up the Adventure on Thursday...guess what? Pissing rain. In Nice ferchrissakes!!! I guess I'll be running it in VERY carefully.

Cheers../Rob

I've got a GIVI monokey top box on my std GS and with a fitting plate fits a treat. It holds 2 helmets and loads of gear, doesn't leak and looks great. AND it was pretty cheap. I'm not bothered about having a brake light in the top box so the std , cheapest box is fine for me. I looked at the adventure ally panniers and top box at the bike show and you can hardly get anything in the top box it's so small.

Alan, get the Givi stuff, it's fine.

Hey Marcus....guess wot??

First the good news......I have only gone and bought a new GS this afternoon, £8700 OTR, blue & white, ABS, heated grips, hand guards, ADV screen and white lenses not a bad deal I thought?

Go on now someone tell me I could have got one cheaper?

Now the bad news.......I still have my Africa Twin to sell....doh!!

Thanks for the offer mate but the thought of cold and rain makes your offer of a glass of wine a No Brainer:beerjug:
Here's a side shot, if you do go H&B, Moto-Bins had them when I was looking if not try Wunderlich, they may not be shown but if you contact them thay can get and deliver anything from H&B a lot quicker than H&B can deliver themselves
Ease of use, taking on and off the rack is easy and quick by the way:beerjug:

Rain is not as bad as it seems. When it's raining here, it means snow in the Alps, so skiing weekends are upon us again. Might fit snow tyres to the bike
Box looks great and the rack looks substantial enough too. I'll check the prices and options localy. Wonder if GIVI is cheaper in Italy than here? Thanks for the info..../Rob

Rob....

If it's OK I'll pop over for a drink, it's pizzzzing down here now! And looks like it will be for a couple of days:mad:

Bilks.( wot an ugly bike !)

Oh Shit Bilks, I thought they were meant to be ugly!

Alan,
well done mate, welcome to the ranks of the beemer owners. You won't regret it one bit. You'll now be planning all sorts of daft overseas adventures on it.
I've already started looking at my wish list for next year, and I've run out of holiday??!!

Congrats

Marcus.

Adventure with E52

Dealer (SLM) adapted standard GS plate (although GIVI now lists a specific plate for Adventure). Works brilliantly and looks fine. VERY well made kit and good value.

Thanks for the info Paul, I'll go with the GIVI plate. I've had the box for ages and they very tough, and completely waterproof. I wouldn't be able to carry enough food in the BMW aluminium jobbie to see me through a day trip....:(
