Having ridden my gs with the standard screen for a couple of months I have taken the plunge and bought a new GSA screen and winglets. V excited to get home last night and find a big box of new bits for my bike waiting for me (easily pleased I know ). Opened the box to find all the bits. Including about 10 packs of various fastenings. Unfortunately no instructions. A quick call to BMW revealed that they don't do them.
Whilst I'm sure that here are those that are technically minded enough for this not to be a problem I'm fairly sure that I will end up with some parts left over if I fit it without more info. Or worse a screen disappearing down the road behind me!!
Is fitting the screen straight forward. Does any one have an idiots guide.
Thanks for any assistance and hopefully not too much p*** taking

Just done what you are suggesting and whilst I had diagrams they were as much use as a chocolate teapot , theres a few hints and tips I could help you with , give me a ring and I can better talk it through with you.

Guys. Thanks fir the replies. The diagram starts to give me a clue. Pablo 1. I'll give you a ring tomorrow if that's ok. In the afternoon at a time that's suits you.
Please forgive the lack of emocions but I'm updating on my phone.
Big thumbs up
Matt

Can a moderator sticky this in useful bits and bobs? Spent a good half hour scratching my head today when replacing my screen...

Does the GSA screen not mount the same way as the GS screen? If so carefully watch what you're doing when you take the GS screen off and reverse the process for fitting. As for the winglets it's just 2 bolts on each side isn't it?

I got a full diagram in my dark screen for GSA I got from BMW, this gave full diagram of where bits go.

Screen wise your right pretty much, but the additional support bar makes attatching the screen at the adjustment points at the back very tight unless you remove the big plastic bits first, also theres an order to fitting the thing unless your day job is gynacology.
As for the winglets the critical bit is drilling the 2x 6mm holes in the beak, this needs to be done (without removing tank and beak) from underneath to make sure the holes line up with pre drilled holes in the frame. Not having a small enough drill for this was a real pain for me and resulted in me removing the side panels from the bike just to get a bit better visibility and room.
Its like anything , easier if you have done it before.

Mate of you're stuck and fancy a blast up the a38 I'll happily help you to fit it at my place, using mine as a template, I swapped screens a while back and it was a pain first time, failing that I bet a dealership would do it during lunch for say 20 quid, may save heartache :)

As for fitting wingletts there is a realy good post on here on how to do it.

As for fitting the adventure screen yes you need a six fingered double jointed alien to help :blast but it is worth it :D

If you do a search it's all there on this site including how to do the holes from underneath for the wingletts :rob

With the lead up to the festive season and then Christmas the old GS has taken a back seat. However SWMBO has had enough of the big box of bits sitting in The dining room. Thanks for the advice and the offer from CuzGS to come up to see his bike. However I'm not confident that the screen and myself would complete the A38 together on the back of the bike together. Going to make use of a full day off tomorrow and try and get the screen on the bike. Providing that I don't make a complete hash of it I will post some photos of the process for any one else hat may find it useful
