I'm about to fit my bumblebee tank decals, the big hello 1000 but I'm struggling to find some photo's that are good enough to help me lay them out just right. Does anyone have a good photo to show this or maybe some measurements to help me get it right. Any help would be much appreciated. B

My best tip for placing decals is DONT DRINK ALCOHOL for a few days and no espressos ,a steady hand required ,once its down leave it alone ,seriously though masking tape and pencil marks do it for me ,Ive seen it done with soapy water sliding it about .I p[ersonaly shit myself putting decals on .Anyway good luck to you :beerjug:

I have just done it! I was a bit wobbly from last nights antics but it seems to have gone ok. Definitely a nerve racking job. Tried a bit of soapy water on one part but then it didn't want to stick so did the rest with a stiff squeegee. I had a plain black tank before, quite excited about the brash eighty's decals. :thumb2

I was confident of my inability to do this job well so took my newly painted 80g/s & 80PD tanks etc to a quality local sign writer to get the decals applied. Gave him several photos of the correct positioning and got a top job done. Wisdom is knowing your limitations (there are plenty :D).

Strange coincidence, I need to get the same job done to my Bumblebee soon too. Might get my local bike paint shop to do it though.

the trick is to spray the area with some diluted washing up liqued then you can move it auboute when its right sweeze any exes aire aut from under the stickers using a old credit or phone card ! i du have the proper tool for it I just dont no the proper name for it any more not in english any way !!

Littlefun is correct, but a little more explanation.

Use an empty household trigger spray bottle (clean it out well first though). Fill with water and 3/4 drops of washing up liquid. Mark out area with masking tape with pen marks for centres etc so that you know where your decals will be going (Essential step). Degrease surface area for decal, with 'Panelwipe' or IPA alcohol. Trigger spray a mist of the water/soap solution. This is to wet the surface and break down surface tension. Place the decal in position and slide about to position. It will initially feel that the liquid is preventing the decal from sticking, but smooth out from the centre with the back of the hand to squeegee out water/soap mix. I don't use a credit card or similar as I found that the edge can easily scratch the vinyl. (HDIK?). Leave for 24 hours min if you intend to clearcoat over the decal.

Came across these posts whilst doing a search.
Anybody know where I can get a set of decals for a 1991 80GS? Would like to get it back to stock.
Thanks.
