Im about to fit my new 41 ltr touratech tank to my 2000 gs1150.
Firstly the tank rests firmly against the beak rubbers but the rear mounting bolt doesnt line up with the mount hole on the frame, only by removing the rubber sleeve at the end of the beek will the tank be able to move far enough forward to fit correctly. But this looks crap.
Also i have read that many riders on this site have fitted these tanks and have had several issues with not bieng able to use all the fuel in the tank and / or early low fuel warning light coming on.
Does anyone out there have experience with these tanks that can advise me.

cheers john

I removed the rubbers and cut off the lugs that go into them.
I bought the kit to get the extra fuel out but have not fittted it.

Most annoying thing for me was the link pipe, I made one with just a rubber pipe and one with a copper brake pipe and rubber ends but never felt that they looked safe.
Also very messy when taking tank off - 2x one way valves may be the answer but they have caused problems as well for other people

RE LINK PIPE

Hi Turnip

Can i ask what you mean by link pipe ?
Do you mean the main fuel hose that connects to the outside of the tank.?
Also in the instructions that i have had translated in to English (because the few lines in English supplied were not detailed enough) ask that i should bend the bracket holding the fuel pump so that there is a minimum of 46mm between the pump and the plate. My concern is that it may break off.
Did you do this and if so how easy was it.
Any advice appreciated.

cheers JOHN
