Remus Y piece arrived yesterday which I intend to try using with the standard BMW silencer on my GSA (at least for the time being!).

I was quoted about £100 for fitting a Y piece by a dealer so I'm investigating fitting it myself.

Could somebody please advise on the fitting sequence/to do's/ not to do's etc of fitting a Y piece as no instructions came with it.

many thanks

Fitting really is easy - basically 3 clamps, a support bracket and a sensor.

The clamps and bracket are self explanatory (but do a search here and you may find differing advice on using an anti-seize or jointing compound when you refit the y piece. I think I just did the clamps up)

The critical thing is the lambda sensor which screws into the cat and therefore needs to go into the Y piece when fitted. The sensor has two wires and the critical thing is to note that as you undo/ refit the sensor (which simply screws in) the wires will twist. So.....when you remove from the cat count how many tiimes you have to unscrew the plug - 4 1/2 I think.

Once you have fitted the Y piece take the sensor and twist it the appropriate number anti clockwise before you screw it back in. That way the wires will un twist and be unstressed once the plug is done up tight.

The only other advice is to loosely fit the three clamps and position the whole thing before tightening - dont do one clamp up tight then the others or it will pull out of shape.

Be ready for it being noisy...mine drones like a thousand bomber raid on the motorway....

Hope this helps

Thanks for the helpful advice. I'll let you know how I get on.

Its 'cos I don't want to spend £100 or £90 or £85 or even £75 that I'm going down the diy route but thanks anyway guys!
